Posted: 18:57 - 10 Mar 2017 Post subject: Scaffolding on my property! |
|
|
I'm renting, and this includes a mini front garden (patio with pots) and drive. I've just come back from work to find a load of scaffolding up, and while I can still squeeze my 125 in, it's a monumental pain in the arse.
Nobody notified me, and I'm very pissed off as you can imagine. I've been here 9 years!
Since I'm paying rent for the area in which the scaffolding is erected, I'm considering sending someone a bill. Should that be scaffolder, builder or landlord?
Also, the scaffolder has used a bit of wood which is mine, as a base for one of the poles, and I'm happy to charge very reasonable rates for that too. It's a very useful bit of wood, and I can go without it for the right price.
It's something to do with the roof, and the flat upstairs is private leasehold with the landlord the freeholder. ____________________ If you can keep your head when all about you

What's the scaffolding for? If it's for repairs then if I recall correctly the Access to Neighbouring Land Act allows a homeowner access onto neighbouring land to carry out such repairs without permission of the landowner. Things like roof repairs, gutter cleaning etc.
They should have still asked permission - not yours since you aren't the landowner, they may have (although most likely haven't) asked your landlord. Even if you said no the point of the act still stands as basically they can't be done for tresspassing.
Might be worth telling your landlord anyway, since they have a duty of care to ensure reasonable use and enjoyment of your property. Make it his/her problem.
Use of your treasured piece of timber as a support is Interference with goods, much more serious ____________________ Yamaha FZ6 S2 |

It would be really petty to call the HSE and express your concern bordering on horror about this creaking edifice which doubtless doesn't even have a scaff-tag on it.
Have you ever seen a child within half a mile? Then hundreds of children could die.
Don't do that. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Ahh, but scaff tags are not a legal requirement. You must inspect scaffolding every seven days or sooner, or after any high wind, and you must keep a record of the inspections. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Thus, "doesn't even".
The real question is: why do you hate children? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Well, this is why I posted - sometimes the reactions of others can shed new light on a situation.
Also it has been quite useful to blow off steam, as found by some of the BCF rottweilers who came back to post again, and vote..
It's in my interest that the work is finished and the whole thing gone as soon as possible I think. ____________________ If you can keep your head when all about you
