That tubular bracket ... is it threaded?

If it is, you wind the threaded portion of the cable end through it to adjust it and lock it in place with the nut when you are done.

If it isn't, you need a nut at each end of the bracket to hold the cable in place. Adjust it by turning both nuts.

Apart from that, instructions for your bike are exactly what Robby said above.

Edit: and get a bloody Haynes Manual!!!

Here's a video that shows how it's done on the 600 - unthreaded bracket with two nuts. It might help.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cfMKWPX1g8

edit - see the vid you posted earlier in the thread for how it's done with a threaded bracket.

This has to be a wind up, no one this imbecilic, stubborn and arrogant could have survived this long with so many flashing lights and moving fast moving traffic around.

So you'll take hand outs from the canteen but not from us... right.

In the course of your mathematical studies, did you ever cover applied maths?

Btw - You never did take up the challenge on the other thread.

Just stare at this picture for about a minute and you'll see what is wrong with your set up. Look where the nuts are. Undo them off the threaded part of the cable so you can slip it into the bracket, then re-thread them either side.

You also have the locknuts fitted wrong. It should have one on each side of the bracket, so it holds the adjuster in place whether it is being pushed or pulled. Look at the manual.

That is a very nice rubber boot on the left of frame. Arcane - I bet you wish yours still had one of those

Perfect. Did it on my own, I was right about not threading and the nuts were both in the correct place so right there too. Thumbs Up

This is totally the end of this username btw cos I'm tired of this shit. I just wanted to be treated like any other user and already being called fuckit, cretin, arrogant and people still bringing up the past when I asked for it to kindly be forgotten. I can see this rep is going to follow this username for the rest of eternity.

We'll know it's you straight away unfortunately. How about you stop being such a monumental idiot and people might treat you differently?

We've all agreed that you have been mostly polite and haven't had any major flounces. Your problem is the complete lack of regard to any advice given, your know it all attitude and the fact that you openly admitted to crying when you fucked up your bike.
You're a grown man (albeit with a childish attitude) who cries when things don't go your way ffs. I admire your perseverance but for me to decline to meet you says a lot. I've met some questionable characters from forums in the past and I wouldn't last 10 mins with you.

Change your attitude and you might see a change in ours.

Probably should've listened to us when we told you to see a locksmith, or when we told you not to continue stripping the bike down after you found the key, or when we told you to take pictures before stripping the bike down, or when.......

I think I can categorically say that any other user who had the same sort of "adventure" as you would be treated exactly the same. Very Happy

I tried to help. Didn't seem to get much thanks. Crying or Very sad

As a public service, to protect any future potential owners of this machine*, here is the verified registration plate:

GC15 BSO ( GC15BSO or GC 15 BSO )

Buyer: be extremely aware that the bike has been dismantled and then attempts have been made to reassemble, but you should consider every aspect of it to be completely unroadworthy and dangerous.
