Wr 125 won't start after top end rebuild

My son recently undertook a top end rebuild himself due to lack of funds etc and an enquiring a mind .during the rebuild he said the timing belt/chain slipped and although he pulled it back up when engaging ignition button for the 1st time bike wont start not even with bumping
Any ideas pls

It all depends what he did and how he did it.

Getting the valve timing right is pretty fundamental so I would worry about how other stuff was done. For example, did he use a torque wrench on the head bolts? In the right sequence?

What did he actually do with this "top end rebuild"? What was wrong that caused him to need to do it?

It goes from a simple "set the valve timing" to a "oh bugger, the valves hit the piston and everything is knackered" and all points in between.

So no way of telling from here I'm afraid
