What, in the name of fuck, is 'BRITISH A' on a bank statement? It has taken £762 out of my current account and I have absolutely no idea why or what for. I think I'd probably remember if I'd sent that sort of payment to someone / something in the past three days...

I've searched google for a while and can't find an answer. Any information would be appreciated as this could cause serious problems in the next couple of weeks.

Many thanks.

Eh?
You may want to consider calling your bank?
They can often give you a general location that the payment was sent to.
Also it's pretty much their job and in their own interests to investigate potential fraudulent transfers.

It is amusing the kind of help threads people post on BCF.

I need to fit a carpet. *posts on BCF*
I need to fix my boiler. *posts on BCF*
I need to rewire my house. *posts on BCF*
I have an odd charge on my bank account. *posts on BCF*
etc

I guess it's not like there are specific forums for carpet fitting, boiler fixes, electrical engineering and pretty much anything else in the world ...oh wait, there is.

There is a real wealth and breadth of experience and expertise on here. Which is why I suppose there are sections away from things bike related. I posted while awaiting a call back in case I was missing something obvious. As it turns out, I wasn't.

In that case, does your wife/partner have access to your card and a reason to cheat on/leave you?

tbh, many worse questions get asked on here. Laughing

It's probably unnecessary but IMO it'd be a good idea to change your pins and online banking passwords.

Have you recently handed your card over when paying rather than just putting it in the chip and pin machine yourself? Confused

It's all about card skimming now.

You're assuming they're flying out. It's as likely that OP's missus is flying her Nigerian Prince in.

BCF has such a broad base of users its often quicker getting advice here rather than the hassle if joining some other forum just to ask a question.

Its also interesting how some people complain on social forums when people are being social.

100% Thumbs Up

They have to have that in case of link problems so they can debit the card.

This is the biggest flaw, and cause of card fraud... As too many retailers do not check staff that have access to these details.

It passes the time.

Plus I would counter with the fact that some of BodgySockets communications could be considered "social"
That doesn't mean they aren't open to a light ribbing.
