Rear facing wireless camera + display inside helmet = a Reevu helmet that needs batteries.

Promo vid.

Article.

Site: https://zona-store.com/ (yes -store)

✔ CGI video.
✔ Pre-order now, save monies!
✔ No patent number disclosed.
✔ No independent reviews of the actual product.
✔ Celebrity endorsement. I know Foggy is no Adam Aarons, but he's probably the best they could afford.
✔ Yah, social meedja https://www.facebook.com/theZonastore/

✘ Fake non-company. It is actually real, and has filed accounts and everything
✘ Vapourware fail. A prototype ostensibly exists and has been shown to real people at real bike shows in London and Scotchland without causing bleeding of the earballs. Go Manchester, see for yourself. Looks like you'll be amazed.

Has a design company let them down yet and delayed the launch?

It'll need a rear wiper. Adam..!

Can we have a test report of how many eyes are lost due to this "mechanism" working it's way loose in the event of a crash plz? ... There's always one.

I've survived this long without one so I'll pass.

Ride long enough and you sense when there's someone close to you anyway. Shoulder checks work otherwise.

Boooo.

Vibrating loose then spinning round as a wind direction indicator. Apparently.

Way way back on a trip to Spain a guy called Kev had a dentist mirror attached to his visor. It served exactly the same purpose.

You know around this time of year when it gets warm? When women who work in offices start wearing super short skirts and there are more road accidents as men oggle them instead of looking at the road?

I'm liking the Adam Ant/ Commando cheek stripe (does it come in different colours or flags?) but I'm not sure I could focus rapidly from distance to point-blank. In fact a quick test shows that as a speccy I can't focus that close at all. Mirrors may be sooo last century but they work better (and exist).

It's not an insane idea in principle. My Drift Stealth already streams wirelessly, albeit with exactly the amount of lag that would get you killed up a treat. Sticking a teeny screen on a stick isn't rocket science.

In practice, I doubt they'll get the pre-orders necessary to go into production. I'd expect to see feature creep appearing soon. Speed reading. Safety camera warning. Demisting heater. Mounting it on the outside of the visor, on a track, with a rubber wiper on it...

It's not even that. Just get a camera with a screen. Unsolder the screen from the PCB. Add some extending wires to it and glue it on the inside of your visor while pointing what's left of the camera body backwards.

I don't get it.

Personally, mirrors and turning my head allow a sufficient field of view.

But for those inclined to want a camera, surely mounting something to the bike directly would be better?

Confused

I'm always amazed at how little helmet cams capture (compared to what you can see). I don't see how it'll be better than a mirror, or turning your head.

Not so new. Remember Skully?

Didn't last that long.

Skully was different though. It failed because it wanted people to spend 2K on a helmet. At least you can add this to any* helmet.

*some, many or none.

A solution to a problem no one asked for. Thumbs Up

Has anyone noticed how cars where there are far less packaging concerns still have mirrors? If it was a real safety concern how are there not many more accidents in cars and some bright spark hasn't thought to replace those dangerous mirrors first?

I can see the possible benefits - especially on more extreme sports bikes and so on.

However, not a new idea and for many years you've been able to buy a helmet with an integrated rear view mirror... one with much lower latency that works at the SPEED OF LIGHT!

Some racing cars have them, and I think on high end cars you get external cameras as well.
