Rear tire profile has little effect on steering. As an example, this is why a PR4 rear is pretty much square when new, while the front is one of the quickest turning commuter tires. If you stuck a new PR4 rear on that, the profile is squarer than what you have now Laughing the pr3 is rounder, but less good.

Fronts dont usually go square, mine always go concave at the 2nd/5ths and 4th/5ths of the profile.

Long as it does the job that all do.

Last parts too technical for me noggin.

Only uploaded photo's so don't continue to confuse others about what's what on the rear. Illustration purposes at this point I guess since already booked in and going for what I ordered.

You keep saying that, but based on what?

According to reviews the PR4 is not better than the PR3.

PR3 https://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Michelin/Pilot-Road-3.htm

PR4 https://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Michelin/Pilot-Road-4.htm

PR3 equals or scores higher in every category there.

Quote now makes me look a bit simple overlooking the obvious DIY outside workshop. Shifty

I'd be wheelie mad if I come back and found it gone. Wheey. Dance!

Looks like you have well over 1000 miles on that tyre.

But then i'm the sort of person that does an 800mile round trip to Lille on an already bald tyre.

I wouldn't recommend any other tyres than the PR3's or 2CT's.

Avoid Bridgestone BT021's.

Purely based on my own experience. I haven't tried other tyres and I don't really feel the need to at all.

Based on my experience, Ive used many pr3's and a pair of pr4's, I much prefer the pr4. The front is a better profile, the compound gives better feedback, more confidence in them. Ive done a lot of riding at -6c on these and it was not slow riding - this is where they are noticably far better than pr3's. Im not sure the front will last as long, that would be the only dissapoint

Swappng a pair of racetecs next, then have a roadtec 01 rear to try. Reviews say almost as good but less feel.

I think a lot of people have long since looked at the cover over their bike and gone back to bed by that point, sod that.

Why do you change tyres so much?

They dont last that long? 70 miles a day, somewhere between 10-20k per year and 6-9k per tire. I could be fitting 3 pairs per year.

Good winter tires - PR4 are not cheap, but summer track scrubs are, which are also better in summer, but dont last as long. This means I fit quite a lot.

O right. I'd overlooked long distance commutes as a thing since even my, at current, longest route doesn't exceed 15-20 miles. In a world of my own.

I think it's more the tyre profile at this point as opposed to how much tread it has. Can't really recall what it looked like when I got it but is certainly passed its best. Make my way round a roundabout today and felt like I was on the edge of the tyre going to fall over and I wasn't even leaning that much. Glad I phoned up for a change when I did, sooner it goes in a skip the better.
