Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to put a mid 90's DT125R engine into a mid 80's MK2 DT 125 LC? Are a lot of parts compatible?

Basically I have a lot of DT125R parts from a mid 90's bike and found a rolling frame DT 125 LC project bike for sale....temptation

The only plus point is that they are both central exhaust port motors designed for double cradle frames, unlike the situation with KMX/KDX Kawasaki's.

The DTR engine is different in many ways, and I think the main problem would be that it has a forward inclined cylinder compared to the LC motor, so it probably wont fit the DTLC in its normal angle. If you tipped the motor back to fit it, you'd probably run into clearance issues for the carb etc.

There's still plenty of old DT and RDLC motors out there, that would fit straight in. Sell your DTR motor and buy a cheap LC engine to re-build and save yourself a load of grief.

The late YPVS equipped LC engine is almost as powerful as the best DTR engines anyway.
