|
|
I have decided to start a new thread on this as the last one went off track a little (thanks Tef )
A bit of a back story, went out on CG a month or so back, conked out, no juice in the battery to restart it, got it home, charged battery, fired up fine, checked voltage, key off 12.5V, engine running 11.5V, ended up changing the Reg/Rec and got a healthy 13.5V when running.......... happy days
Jump to today, took it out for a quick country lane blast after work, all going well when save thing happened, started to conk out, no power, stalled when clutch pulled in, pulled over, no juice again, barely even enough to light up the neutral light
So, pushed it home (luckily all down hill), put on charge for 10 mins, fired up fine, and back down to 11.5V again............. fuck
So it appears i have somehow fucked up my Reg/Rec again.............. how is this possible?
TL:DR Bike not charging, replaced Reg/Rec and all was good, now not charging again, suspect Reg/Rec gone again
Any ideas what can cause the Reg/Rec to just go like that, or is there somewhere else i should be looking for potential problems |

£130 for a new one? WTF?
Why your previous one failed is mystery at the mo
They're normally quite reliable.
I'd get one from say a 500cc+ bike
as it would probably be rated for a higher output than a
125 bikes stock RR
I stuck a CX500 one on my lads Yamaha Majesty 125 and
it worked a treat |
Ahh right, good to know, but how would i know which bikes would have a suitable 3 phase Reg/Rec?
EDIT: just looking at a few on eBay now, and there seems to be a fair few regulators with 3 yellow wires (from the stator) but then with 3 other wires (green, red, black) i'm guessing 2 of those are +12V & ground, but unsure on the other, and my wiring diagram for the CG only shows 2 wire (Red and Green) Red looks like +12V, green looks like the ground, so what would i do with the black wire............ confused |
