As per the title, Ant Anstead is taking his place.

I can't see it going on for much longer, but intrigued to find out what he gets up to.

Shame, his segments were the only bits worth watching.

Good on him, he's one of the few presenters on TV that knows what he's talking about. The only other one of real substance was probably Fred Dibner.

To me, he was the point of watching the program.

It looks like its going to get turned into even more "pimp my ride" style nonsense ......

There's already plenty of that type of sh!t on ...........

Its being dumbed down and filled with product placement ......

Agreed Edd is the only reason to watch it but as a formula it did work even though Mike is a tosser.
The whole series was starting to get a bit the same so maybe should be shelved instead.
Whatever Edd does he is more than welcome to come help me fix my car especially at his rates.

He should go off and do programmes in the style of the series 'A Car is Born' etc, loved those as they just focused on the technical stuff, none of the crap that Mike Brewer does.

Exactly what everyone is saying here, wheeler dealers needed less brewer stuff and more edd stuff.

I'm pretty sure the offers will roll in for him.
An American bloke told me Wheeler Dealers is big out there, so I imagine it wont be long before someone snaps him up for show.

I'd agree he was the best thing in the programme, but (whether it was to show what you could do at home or not I don't know) he did tend to bodge things, especially in the earlier series. Like doing some body work, then rattle canning it to a poor finish. Or talking about sorting out wiring, then digging out his pound shop style crimp tool and pre-insulated crimps.

The one thing it has above most of the similar car programmes is actually showing him doing a job though - many show mating of major components (engines going in, wheels on) or a bit of metal grinding only.

Maybe it is that more genuine approach that appeals to the yanks, rather than glossy overviews and staged conflicts.

This element, in particular,is the reason I don't watch most american TV programs.

I appreciate that programs like Top Gear also have these, but its not integral to every single episode....

David Attenborough?

Or sticking with the car theme Fuzz Townshend.

Read yesterday that he was leaving and being replaced by Ant Anstead, but only saw that video this morning

Quite revealing, rather than just simply saying he's moving on to other projects. Certainly going to miss the big man in the show

He posted a video to facebook this morning explaining his decision.
Basically wasn't comfortable with the way the show was going and decided to jump ship to keep his reputation intact.

Don't blame him. I don't mind Brewer but I really didn't like the recent episodes where they replace parts with new items rather than repair them.

I think Edd will be just fine without the show. He's a very bright bloke who knows tech and business. I also think Ant will be a good fit to the show, given the format change.

I have grown exceedingly weary about the pint-sized moonfaced muppet coming in halfway through the show saying 'it HAS to have a new colour, Edd'...

Apparently Discovery in the US found it was the second highest rated show on their network. They then decided to ditch Attaboy TV as a production company and take it in house.

They THEN decided that it was too difficult to film all of the fiddly 'fixing' bits where Edd has a go at repairing sealed units and doing bodywork and things. Basically the bits people actually watch it for, so they decided not to do it any more. Edd didn't like this, so quit.

Good on him I say, but actually I'm a little miffed that Brewer didn't at least threaten to follow suit unless they kept what was good about the show. It seems like Discovery have taken a valuable property and are now going to remove what made it good altogether.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I've used to watch wheeler dealers, like a most who have replied to this thread, but have to agree that in recent years it really has just become another of 'those shows' The Mike bits were just bearable, the Mike and Edd bits were too painful to make up for the just Edd bits.
When the show went to the States, I got pissed off with having to hear all prices in $ and then in £, but I did like some of the American cars on the show.

Looks like Edd was the director of another company (Cummfy banana) until a few weeks ago.
Current director is Nancy China and previous directors have included Kevin and Suzanne Brewer.

All of the above, found my TV viewing consisted of WD reruns once I got bored of TG on Dave

If you're on a £200K a year, it could be hard to pretend you couldn't repay a £700K debt.

Limited company, so unrelated to personal assets. Reading the report it looks like there was a ton of undisclosed crap which they found out about after the acquisition of the garage, then a series of staff walking off the job which meant loss of MOT licence, loss of revenue and then a utilities claim (which was being disputed) and forced wind up (by the utilities company).
Looks rather farcical and more a case of someone not doing the appropriate level of due diligence being jumping in.

Hopefully he'll find another "vehicle" for his talents. Razz Found his work very watchable and informative.
