I've got a Worcester 24i (ancient) boiler, an its not igniting or even trying

After much google-fooing found the fans are prone to faults on these, so whipped the panel off an looked at the fan.

The main shaft of the fan was el scorchio - as in too hot to touch (not good?)

I pulled the red (+) air pipe from the fan an blew into it an the boiler fired up a treat.

So fan fault im guessing?

Just done a Ohm test on the fan (across power contacts) an im getting 72.3 dunno if thats good or not.

Spinning the fan by hand does move it but as soon as you move away it stops abruptly

thoughts?

refitted fan, it turned once or twice an stopped an the shaft started heating up again. The fan motor is also vibrating Shocked

Sounds like fan is fubarred. It won't fire because it won't turn over the air pressure switch.

Get someone gas safe registered to change it bro. You don't have the equipment to test its safe once changed so pretty much a job for the pros.

Fan gotta be 100-150£
Prob looking at 3 hours labour so a good £100 notes atleast.
So £200-£300 job, if your in London then you prob want to add 50% again like

Found fault, it was a seized bearing (inner) stripped the fan, but then struggled getting it all back re-aligned

Bought a spanking new fan - We now have hot water Thumbs Up

you can grab the PDF for the boiler here
https://www.worcester-bosch.co.uk/professional/support/documents/worcester-i-rsf-installation-instructions

at the back they have a very useful fault finding section.

i have an equally old Baxi unit and have a copy of the manual next to it.
