I've realized that the headlight I purchased for my bike to replace the old one is rubbish it looks ok but as it was so cheap the reflector is horrible and even with a decent light it's virtually useless.

So I'm after replacing it with another headlight. I was just wondering though does anyone know what the best and largest round headlight that is available on the market Question

Because size is what's important?

These look pretty good but I suspect they won't suit a breakers yard budget.

You want a Suzuki DR250 Djebel headlight from a breakers. It is so big it will make your bike look tiny.

8" is the biggest single one I've found when looking for a project of mine.

That's the one I've got at the moment but the headlight is really low quality and the connector has snapped off inside with riding.

7" is a standard set by Lucas. Its the size of old mini, Moris Mior, MGB, Lad-Rover etc lamps....
I recall older 1950's cars used 9" lamps, though... BUT its the fitting that's iportant; a lot of 7" motorcyce lamps are actually aprox 6 3/4" from metrfcation, and measuring the size of shell 'rim' diameter, rather than the lens diameter. Then there's the fitting arrangement, so not all 7" lens/reflectors ft all 7" shells, and its best to buy as a unit....
WHERE actual stated size is probably not as important as the quality.
MOST after-market lamp lenses are crap.
OE lenses tend to be much more accurately molded to give a better beam pattern.. which is actually probably more important than how much light they chuck out... it's no use if it chucks out a lot of light, if it isn't useful, and or you get poor coverage or areas of cotrast... particularly between dip and main, where shortening the 'pool' ca gve you such a night and day difference as turnig the light 'off' for all the use it is, and eye adjust time to the dfferent brghtness as well as focus distance can effectvely make you momenterly 'blind'

Its the difference betwee 'good' lights, rather than 'powerful' lights....

And, ts about maxmsig the system rather than looking for a headline component. A good set up, with a better OE grade lens, and a pretty conservative bulb power, properly aligned, can chuck as much or ore 'useful' light up the road, as something badly set up with a high power bulb or HD, or a great lens with bad adjustment.

I would pick a decent 2nd hand OEM lamp (and brackets) from a naked bike, like a Suzuki GS (as used o Snowie's pup) or a CB1000 or whatever ovr the cheaper 'generc' offings on e-bay or any of the fashion victim Dommie lamps or 'skull' MX lamps and stuff... but I would try and get one fro as recent a bike as possible, to minimize risk its too badly etched, yellowed or corroded.

I replaced the round headlamps on my speed triple with some far superior ones that I found mentioned as upgrades on a lotus 7 forum.
Apparently they have shit headlights as well.
The speed triple ones were absolute shit - crap output, crap beam pattern. The replacements were reflectors with clear glass and immediately threw twice the light with a crisp cut off. Same H4 bulbs.

That was a few years back. If I was looking again, I might be looking at the round LED headlamps that are kind of copies of the Harley Daymaker headlights. The genuine HD daymakers are supposed to be amazing, but at £600 I won't be finding out first hand.

Not a Triumph Speed Triple. Do not get those headlights. They are definitely not decent. Laughing

When the OP makes it clear whether functionality or aesthetics are the prime motivation for changing it, then maybe
someone can help him out.
