Hello all, New to the forums.

Having a problem with my Hyosung gt250r, Every time i put the bike in to gear its like someone has pressed the kill switch.
Before anyone points out the obvious IT IS NOT THE SIDE STAND SWITCH I DONT HAVE ONE
Thats all the help i could find on the internet.
Yesterday when i had the petrol tank of (to prime for painting) the fuel gauge wire made contact with the battery and fried it
a little bit ? But it still works. Wondering whether that could have burnt out something ?
Any help is appreciated

Should the bike have had a sidestand switch? I'd be checking the wiring used to remove the sidestand switch, some kind of wiring loom damage related to the neutral light.

I dont think so there is no where for it to plug in to the loom ? Any ideas where i should look for damage regarding the neutral light

Used to happen all the time on my Kawa GPZ305... It was a sticking switch down on the gear lever, always getting dirt and grunge being so low on the bike. Most manufacturers have a similar setup so I would follow the recommendation above as a starting point.

It should have the switch - my old Gt125 did.

You can find the service manual pdf online quite easily, its on Hyosung's US site for one.

The reason everyone's saying "sidestand switch"? Because it screams sidestand switch.

You *should* have a switch.

See here.

My EXC used to do this unless I revved it when putting it into gear. I've just had a new clutch kit on it (plates and springs) as it started slipping. A bonus though is that it has cured the stalling when going into gear Very Happy I guess before I couldn't get proper adjustment as the clutch was too worn.

My hyosung had problems with the site stand switch so I moved it but left it wired in worked fine for ages Bute's started acting up even though it wasn't being activated so had to remove it completely if yours has been moved but I'd still there this may be the problem

First thing I did with my HN out of the crate was to unbolt the side stand switch and tie it up out of the way.

This is apparently the wiring diagram for the GT250R, but I can't make out the wire colours.

I agree that it screams sidestand switch, if it judders forward as you shift down then it's likely the clutch, you can check this by bump starting, if the engine runs then it could be clutch, if not then it's the switch.

Anyone know if the sidestand switch will cut if you shift into 2nd? I've never tried it.

To me it looks like Br and Bw (brown and black white for people who wouldn't know the abbreviation).
