The rear brake pedal on my NC700 has suddenly become quite solid - if I push very hard then I _can_ get some brake function, but it's extremely tough to use. There's plenty of meat on the rear pads.
Any common causes or anything obvious to check? (I'm currently thinking that it's something to do with the C-ABS valving - but it's just an amateur guess)

I don't know how the pedal is set up on your bike but on mine it's quite common for the pivot to get totally gummed up with road grime and make the rear brake next to useless unless you stamp on it.

A good clean and grease of the pivot keeps it feeling good.

Just remembered that I didn't reply - yup, it was exactly as you said. Cleaned and greased, now as free as a bird.
I would never have thought that a little dirt could have such a sudden and noticeable effect on the pedal.

Glad to hear it was the simple problem Laughing

I keep on top of mine now with a good squirt of WD40/GT85 work the pedal and wipe it off, then dribble some ACF50/light oil around the pivot and work it again.

Seems to keep it nice and free even with 200 miles of commuting a week.
