What should I be using. Ive tried SAE30 R9, which is supposed to be for injected bikes but too thick and not flexible. Ive replaced 3 times as it has rotted and split (with fresh fuel, did not go stale)

Rubber hose seems never 100% fuel resistant, where as pvc or similar will harden as the plastisisers get washed out.

This is for the 9mm ID fuel tap to carb on the cbr250rr.

Hmm, I've not had problems with R9 rotting or splitting. Are you buying decent branded stuff like Goodyear, or ebay cheap stuff?
I bought some injection fuel line off ebay cheap, and I got crappy R6 fuel line. Neutral
Still got it in the garage, but I'm not sure if I'll ever use it. I think I then bought R9 from Demon Tweeks, proper Goodyear stuff.

You could try the stuff thats Ethanol rated (E85, or E100)

But that tends to be marginally even thicker OD.

I always thought that you were supposed to use silicone hose for fuel. I normally just buy it (as fuel pipe) from the nearest motor factor.

Tbh, I've never had an issue asside from hose thats 20 years old...

This is what I had fitted www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161108103645
It is too thick, wont bend for the available space, I dont trust it to stay on the carb connector. Im also using a quick disconnect fitting in the middle.

This is the OE part, www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231593856609

R9 is thicker and stronger due to the fuel pump pressurising the line. Not an issue for a carb bike. I'd try some decent quality R6. It should be easier to bend, but I may be wrong.

Tankie, is that decent stuff then, no cracking/going hard after a year?

Searching for decent stuff on ebay can be a right game.

Everything I've bought so far has gone "dry" and cracked up like a bastard, or at least gone rock hard in no time. I'll probably be trying the low pressure hose from demon tweeks next, branded "LMA" which is apparently a british motorsport company, but no idea if they actually make the hose. I'm willing to give it a go, just for a change, thanks for the idea jnw010.

Interesting, I thought silicone was exactly what you don't want 'cause it gets all melty with petrol. I've bought hose from a motor factors but it's always the thick injection style J30 stuff, and thinner nitrile stuff from the bike shop was just as piss poor as the ebay stuff.

I don't like this game Sad Why can't all fuel hose be created equal and to a decent standard. Maybe I've just been unlucky but I'm a bit sick of dredging through the 50,000 listings for fuel hose on ebay trying to pick a good un, it's so boring.

Cheers, that's music to my eyes - I'll try that instead then, a hose solution, in sizes for everybody.
Cool

That looks like all the other cheap R9 injection hose out there, it's all from China and utter crap. I have to replace it every 2 years on the K100 because it goes hard and cracks.

The proper stuff should last, Goodyear are recognised as good as jnw010 says, as is Codan. I'll be going with that next, expense (a few quid) be damned!
