Never before have i whitnessed such death and carnage right before my very eyes...

Yesterday as many know and probably took advantage of was a great day for biking. The years first properly hot day... Sun was out air was warm blue skys...

So I rode up to home from where im currently staying in Norwich, taking the Drayton road all the way to the b1145 then that road to home...

It was great going up no problems whatsoever, had a great day at home, had a nice roast dinner with dad and brother... Even managed to test my speedo on my bike and discovered the RPM filter I designed didnt work and needs rethinking...

Then It was getting on, sun was going down, it was evening and I had to ride back to Norwich...

Riding down, splat! oh hit a bug, oh well it was just one... splat! oh another... hmm thats left a bit of a mess, must clean it off when i get back... splat! hmmm ok... splat splat splat splat splat splat splat splat splat............... It was raining bugs... mostly mossys. By the time I got back a 40 minute ride... My visor was covered...

It was like something out of the gumball rally with that bikers face covered in dead bugs... Though in my case i had a visor down :p

Im sure many people have had the same thing happen with them. But this was my first bug attack. Very Happy

LOL yes.... trouble is one of those wind wiper things would just smear the bugs all over the visor, ill be blind and then crash and die D:

I was thinking something more advanced.... like a deflector dish.... Yes like the ones in startrek but instead of pushing hazards away from the ship... this one pushes the bugs away :p

It seems there's about a 20 minute window in mid March, where the air is warm enough for my visor to stay fog-free yet cool enough to keep the bugs asleep.

The rest of the year ... the road ahead is not clear.

Taking a ride around the TT course at the wrong time 9f day and year and you end up looking like you've been paintballing. Laughing

(I've still not figured out what the giant yellow splats were from. )

Havent experienced this yet, but last year, twice in one week a wasp found its way down my jacket while riding. Getting stung while riding is not a pleasant experience. Thumbs Down

Ha, didnt think of that... One of them though i saw it come towards me and felt it land on my neck... assuming it had bounced off i thought nothing of it until it decided that it wanted to be a prick and, well, prick me.

Like it! Like a 100psi envelope of air around the helmet... Get it done! Smile

lol yeah its like being paintballed... The really scary thing is some of the splats.... were extremely gross. Its like maybe some of these flys/mossies were carrying eggs and those eggs splattered as well so you had this central splat, and then around it these little egg shaped things all uniform in size around it. Gave a shiver down my spine with creep factor....

hmmmmm creating a 100psi envelope of air around the visor without impacting the ride... intriguing challenge, sadly I feel it may be an impossible one with our current tech.

Well personally, I'd have killed the little bastard after the first time...

Once had a wasp managed to get inside my helmet: hit me in the throat at high speed and bounced upwards I think. Fortunately I was able to pull over and get rid before it misbehaved (I presume it had been a bit stunned by the original impact or something)

Was quite hesitant to google that at work. Bet those make quite a mess on impact.
