Hi
I need a new throttle cable for my 1991 FZ750 2MG but I cannot find anyone selling a cable for an FZ after 1987 (ebay, Yambits, Wemoto). The pics do suggest they are different cables but I noticed that a 1991 FZR1000 3MG cable looks to be similar.
Can anyone advice?
Thanks
Ray

Earlier FZs had pull only throttles and later (like yours) a dual push pull arrangement. You can probabaly use pull only or try something from a YZF
like this..

Hi

Think push / pull cables are compulsory in the USA, so possible they just standardised it.

Is the cable completely shot or can the outer be salvaged

All the best

Katy

You can't get them. Not even from Yamaha.

Your best bet is to have a cable made up speciually.

When I had the GPz550, a lot of parts were imposible to find (in CZE, the bike was never sold here). Everytime I needed a cable, spark plug, air filter... I just took the old part, showed it to my local motorcycle parts shop and they gave me the exact same one.

With throttle cables, you want to have the same lenght and ends. If you still have the old cable, even if ripped apart, a proper parts shop should still get you what you need. These things are universal.

Venhill will make cables up to all designs.

Saying that, an FZR1000 Genesis cable can't be far off can it?

They are totally different. I used a 1000 cable on my FZ when I couldn't get a proper one and had to make up a bracket for it.

Fowlers of Bristol fiche for the 2MG suggests a single throttle cable

https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/4051006/fz750-t-2mg-1987-99a-b/handlebars-and-throttle-cable

So I found this place has them for £35.10

Yes, but when Suttons go to the main dealer in Belgium, they will find out that they were discontinued a long time ago and they have no stock. They source their parts from the same place as Fowlers.

I've used them both for parts for my FZ when I had one.
