We'll, after a bit of a break, and possibly the longest zx6r rebuild in history (especially compared to what actually needed doing) happy to say back biking again!.

Nice ride out up wye valley yesterday - though felt a bit strange; I seem to stiffen up on right handers for some reason meaning I'm not taking them well.

Anyone else had a long break, if so, how did you find getting back in the saddle?

Oh
Inb4 "does it wheelie?", and "subframe looks twisted"!

Howdy!

I am just working back from a long break - bout 5 years. Was c.20k+ Miles a year for about 7 years before then usual life/work/mortgages got in the way. Kept the bike but barely got out on it other than to MoT . Finally decided if I didn't now I never would so chopped it in against the dream bike and hope I'll stay interested longer than the gym membership! Hoping not a mid life crisis or I won't see 61 Sad

So bit early to tell yet as to how it's gone and adding a new bike to boot I think I am officially in the 'high risk' category... lane positioning is all to sh*t but at least I am aware of that!

I'm still waiting to see how the technology has changed on helmets/kit since all my 10 year old gear sort-of doesn't quite fit how it should anymore for non beer related reasons..

How long were you out for? Rebuild the bike due to accident or just cause?

And if a long while anything you're replacing kit wise cause it's all changed?

Rebuild due to accident, however like you say, life just got in the way (rebuild a bit optimistic - more a cheap eBay fairing and a new brake caliper...)

Probably about 3 years - perhaps not long enough to make a difference; though I have replaced textiles with mid range alpine stars kit, and noticed everything seems more expensive !!
