No it's not. I'm pointing out that your opinion on student fees is swayed by the fact, you don't pay tax and have ran up a sizeable debt dodging work well into adulthood. You're thoughts are hardly going to be impartial on this subject are they?

What would sway my opinion on providing free education to new generations of our country? I have nothing to gain from it. My students debts are already there, with George Osborne's wonderful addition of above-inflation interest to boot. I won't win in any way, shape or form through the abolition of student fees now. So try again with your poor attempt at discrediting my opinion.

I say again, you're making a classic case of "this person is A, so they can't think/do/say/want B", and you're wrong.

Save up and pay it off early, it's what I did, admittedly before (some) uni's started charging 9k per year.

Without qualifying that, the reasonable inference would be the status quo, i.e. those who qualify academically, not those who qualify for STEM.

Gots to label your axes.

It's generally better to pay off your mortgage than your tuition fees because unlike other debts student fee debt is wiped after a certain number of years anyway.

30 years apparently. I didn't like it as a constant reminder in my pay slip (didn't have a very good at uni'), and it was gaining a fair amount of interest.

They barely ever existed. Go back to the 1970s and in theory you might have afforded it, but in practice the chances are that your interview with the bank manager wouldn't convince them that you were able to have one of the limited number of mortgages available. 1980s and the market opened up, but by the end of that house prices were already silly (eg, I bought a house in 1989 which cost £27k, in Mansfield which was cheap and still about 5 times the pay of someone in a basic job).

All the best

I know someone (baby boomer) who had a mortgage at 18 working as a hairdresser (would have been late 70s). You'd be doing really well to get a house for only 5x a basic salary these days (well in the south anyway).

I know that the sun shines out of the arse of London, but its pretty sunny in Manchester at the moment. I know people are territorial but, if you southerners would use the sense you were presumably born with, surely you must be looking for alternative life-styles.
I can cite Manchester, but Leeds is flexing its muscles too.
In my little area of 'tween wars terraces, first time buyers move in, stay for four or five years and then move up to the semi when sprogs start popping out. There is an interesting churn going on, because you can actually afford to live 'up here'.
Socially, life is vibrant, plenty jobs, (but not at the pay levels of the SE, admittedly, because they don't have to be).
There are options, up to you whether you look for them.

It's disappointing that our mistresses (and masters, I guess) haven't seized the opportunity to relocate parliament out of London for the duration of the Westminster refurb.

A couple of years slumming it in the likes of Manchester might give them a fresh perspective on how the proles live. It would be particularly instructive if they didn't have their thirty subsidised bars across the estate, and their Local Laws for Local Members.

I don't see the point of moving somewhere equally or more shit. Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool Glasgow etc. Sure they're cheaper but there's a reason for that.

Manchester is a fucking shithole. Even worse is that it's only going to get worse as time goes on. Avoid it like the plague. OP has been blinded from over-use of his Diversity® brand rose-tinted spectacles.

Saw this on Facebook and thought it was amusing.

Great turnout at the 'Day of Rage' protest in London today... Socialists doing what they do best - couldn't be arsed, thought someone else will do it for them.

ITN's correspondent estimated a turnout of 300.

The divide is London vs the rest of the UK. London gets most of the infrastructure spending and most of the job creating stuff. This means that the return on investment is always greatest if its invested into London, which you guessed it, makes London even more attractive. This would be fine but 15% of the population live in London, that means 85% of our country is essentially on the scrap heap. The only advantage the south is closer proximity to the black hole. HS2 is intended to give the north better access to the black hole (aka London) too.

Unlike you, in your 98% white suburb, I live in the multi-cultural diversity paradise you want for everyone else to live in, but not you. My MP is a Muslim from an all-Muslim Labour short list of 5. This despite the parliamentary constituency being less than 30% Muslim. Thanks to the wonders of parliamentary boundaries, the Manchester bomber, Salman Abedi, was from the same constituency. The first few series of the TV show Shameless was all shot around here. If they shot it now, it would have to include a massive number of Africans that now live in the same area, that were only present in ones and twos at that time. The local school has an ever expanding number of African faces, replacing the native white ones, if they are native, as there's probably a few Poles in among them. In 10-15 years the Africans will likely be the majority, since as the old folk die off they will simply be replaced by African migrant tenants. We even have some Roma Gypsies in the mix just for fun.

When your area becomes anything like this then you can virtue signal all you like how wonderful a paradise the city of Manchester is while not actually living there.

Wythenshawe?

My dad's wife is from there. She says you're full of shit. Laughing

If you don't like it, to paraphrase Norman Tebbit, get on your bike.

Funny actually, I've noticed a few more ethnic friends popping up in the area. But it's still not them who are throwing traffic cones at passing cars, murdering college girls, or congregating in large gangs outside the shop and harassing people into buying alcohol for them. Mr. Green

Paying off student debt early is the biggest personal financial mistake one could make.

I've just received a statement through and interest is less than 1% ATM. You can get savings accounts that pay better (yes, really!).

Or if you have a mortgage at 2.84% like I do, better off paying that down early.

Yes, seeing £275/month coming out of my wages every month is galling, but if I find myself unemployed it's a debt that doesn't get paid and if I haven't paid the lot off after 25 years, the debt is wiped. Alas, looks like I'll have paid off the £22k of student off in the next 3-5 years anyway.

Because London generates massive tax revenues, better to get those bankers into work, than a little old lady up North to the shops Wink

Fuck off you virtue signalling cunt. They didn't move the series to an industrial estate there till around series 4 or 5. The Jockey was The Wellington, and that's about 8 miles from Wythenshawe.

I've lived here for 35 years. Just because cunts like you want to import Third World invaders in while living blissfully in the suburbs of pie-eating cunt central doesn't mean that Manchester should have to endure the bullshit you leftists shovel. You are nothing more than a traitor.

The world's smallest violin player, just for you! The world's smallest violin player, just for you!

See Rob FZS's signature.

Then rinse out some of the sand from you mangina. I'd rather have half a dozen 'invaders' who are causing no aggro to anyone than one cunt like you who does nothing but incite intolerance without just cause to. You were wanking yourself raw over the fact the MEN got bombed by snackbar, but you probably wanted to pin a medal on the chest of the hopeless Welsh cunt who thought the right way to sort it out was by murdering a load of their innocents, instead of jumping on a plane to Syria and fighting ISIS like a real patriot would.

You and bnp72 should go and make babies together.
