Rode it home from the workshop (1 min drive) got home and it was smoking out of the tip. Normal or?

In seriousness I would expect some burning off or smelling from preservative/oil or whatever the manufacturers coat it with.

didn't want to ruin it ! but I have read about a bit and seems like its just some factory protective coating burning off etc and should be gone in a week or so.

Riding for a minute will do more damage than anything. Be smart, 1 hour blast.

I've noticed this on my bikes with very short runs.
