Dunno, but to help those who might diagnose it:
Does it happen on any particular bike?
Left arm, right arm or both?
Are you keeping a death-grip on the bars? If it's right, have you tried a "cramp buster" or similar throttle assist? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I use them and like them. There is some adjustment (physically and mentally) to find a position where you're not accidentally catching them, but I'm fine with mine now. I run them on the very outside of the grip rather than the inside.
I'm talking about these ones, by the way, other variants are available. No need to get a branded one, they're just a piece of bent plastic.

What sort of size of bars are we talking? I get similar, but only on very small diameter clipons - larger grips seem not to do this to me.
Might be worth looking at either grips that increase the diameter, or maybe something like : https://www.nippynormans.com/grip-buddies
(Going to give them a shot myself some time) |

I had tennis elbow last year from doing dumbell curls. Best way to heal is to rest it. Took a good month for mine to get better.
Then once it has repaired, you can get those stress balls to squeeze, strengthening your grip does help IMO ____________________ Previous Bike: Skyjet SJ27

The "cataching" is what I'd be worried about as I'd imagine that a sudden push on the throttle wouldn't be good for bike or rider. I'm tempted to give them a go though as the pain next morning after a long ride is pretty bad.
| chrisdubya wrote: | Is it definitely tennis elbow? Reason I ask is I also have this, and someone I know asked if I was sure it wasn't golf elbow (I play both sports - well badminton).
I didn't even know golf elbow existed until he mentioned it (and it turns out he isn't taking the piss!)! Its on the inside of the elbow rather than the outside - just wondering in case its linked to any of your other hobbies?
Anyway, my tennis elbow isn't cured - apparently only rest will help, but that's a bit shit and boring. One thing that really helped along with painkillers was a tubigrip bandage. The slight support and pressure it gives really helped me, to the point where I had no pain after playing badminton. A couple of times I forgot it and it hurt like hell afterwards. From then on I didn't forget it and was fine afterwards. Worth a try anyway? |
Yep, definitley Tennis Elbow. I'd never heard of Golfer's Elbow either until a few weeks ago. Apparently, becase my pain in on the outside of the elbow, that's Tennis Elbow so my symptoms are indicitive of Tennis Elbow. I did have a tube bandage somewhere so will see if I can dig that out for when I'm riding. Can't do any harm I'd imagine.

My grips are thicker than average on both the VN and the Sportster but my ER-6 has quite slim grips in comparison. Riding any of the bikes leaves me with either immediate pain or pain the next morning. ____________________ Current - Harley Davidson FXDB Street Bob | Harley Davidson FLTR Road Glide | Harley Davidson Road King

Used to get pains in neck and wrists on sportsbike. Moved to a more comfortable bike 1050 Tiger. Lot easier but still get numb arse after few days so stand up and exercise more.
Recent ride from alaska to Argentina on 800XC, my bloody knees start to ache along with elbows after few days.
I'm just old and need to develop ways to exercise whilst on bike.
Oh, try Turmeric. Seems to help me ____________________ www.perthtoperu.com | www.perthtoperth.com |
