Where to buy tyres online please?

Diablo Rosso 2, 150/60 specifically.

(and yes, I searched, saw some necrothreads and thought better of replying to them)

I'm fine with either BlackCircles or Oponeo.

Oponeo are Polish based, and the last tyre I had from them came from somewhere in Eastern Elbonia, but arrived within 48 hours fully (and I mean in detail) tracked all the way until it vanished into the UK courier network and ended up being "delivered to a safe place", i.e. propped against my front wall completely unconcealed behind a small pot plant.

Not their fault though, and they came out a bit cheaper than anywhere in Rip Off Britain.

As above plus www.moto-tyres.co.ik and https://mytyres.co.uk.

Varies which is cheapest. All provide a decent service.

I have had good service from:

Sticky Stuff Tyres in Telford on eBay.

Bikespeed UK. Scotland on eBay

Oponeo. Tyres came from Germany.

And our local bike shop (Lee Motorcycles), who were
cheaper than any on-line suppliers for Diablo Strada at
the time.

I don't need new tyres just yet, but when I do I anticipate going down this route myself. I'm not likely to be fitting them personally (although I think I do still have a set of tyre levers somewhere from 'last time', about about a million years ago, my days of putting them to use are over, I think).

That being the case, I'm guessing it's better to get a bike workshop to fit tyres rather than some national depot? (or does that depend whether you provide the wheels on or off the bike?)

How do bike workshops view this - do they generally load the fitting price if you don't buy your tyres through them, or is it considered fair game to buy your own wherever?

https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/motorbike-tyres/

Came separately within a couple of days from Germany. Was the cheapest place for a set of PR4's at the time, price was the only consideration.

Dot code on the tyres were very recent, as you'd expect on newly released tyres like PR4.

As above, many sites sell cheap tyres. Fitting and balancing however, can be a minefield. Certain companies sell certain tyres at certain times of the year with free fitting. Often, the is is cheaper than buying tyres and getting them done elsewhere. I've used protyre and found them as competitive on price/fitting as any website/finding fitting. Pneus tyres (based in Europe are cheap too.)
Depending on your bike, balancing can also be very important.

If you want fresh, try some Avon Storm 3D from Sticky Stuff Tyres.
My new set have 1117 (March 2017) date codes. Any newer and
they would still be warm.

Oponeo or Tyreleader for me. Purchased many from both over the last few years. Excellent service from both, with recently manufactured tyres delivered on every occasion.

Take tyres and wheels to the local, well equipped motorcycle garage for fitting/balancing. £20-30 for a pair.

Still very often much cheaper all-in compared with buying the tyres through the garage, unless you just want to settle for whatever they want to flog you cheap this week.

YMMV, but I know what tyres I want, and I get through enough to make the saving worthwhile.

I've been using tyreleader for the last couple of years. Generally good prices and no delivery charges. I fit my own tyres.

Wheels and tyres taken to a local backstreet place, which normally suit my van out.
Tenner per wheel and tea while I wait and chat with the guys.
They do it there and then, no appointment.
Local bike places want it booked it in at their convenience Mad
They could have had to the premium price for tyres and fitting head any of them actually done it in a timely manner... They seem to see the bike as a toy that I could do without, rather than my daily commuter Shocked
So, online plus local fitting was both cheaper and faster than a local bike place....

Buy cheap tyres online and either fit them myself if I can be bothered.. Or simply take the wheel and tyre to my local garage and they do it for a fiver per tyre. (They even dispose of the old one).

Thumbs Up

Don't write off the guy down the road. I spent ages ordering tyres from oponeo or wherever and then paying £10 on a lose wheel for fit and balance. Local bike shop has been within a few quid for the last three times so gets the business.

Same here, I go online every time for car tyres as I've never had it beaten and I generally either drop the car in with the tyresin the back, or a lot of the time bare rims (I run separate winters).

With the bike, I cba with either transporting the tyres to the shop on the bike, or stripping the wheels off to take them in in the car. Will happily pay an extra £10-20 to be able to ride in and ride back out half an hour later.

Get a bead breaker, second hand compressor, and some levers/rim protectors, and fit them yourself.

That was the only reason I bought a spade, but I decided it was too dodgy!
8“ G-clamp does it nicely on 160's.
