Any ideas on getting this bastart off. key won't turn in lock but cable does go taught when turned as much as it will, tried having a poke and jab around the latch with a screw driver but difficult to get to from underneath and not sure how the latch works Laughing

Grab the cable with pliers and pull it.

have you tried pushing down on the seat at the same time?

check there is nothing impeding the movement of the lock, i had a spanner jammed up against the one on the gpshed once.

Happens to my ER6 now and again during winter, even taking it apart and lubing everything doesn't stop it happening again. It just gets full of crud. Spraying some WD40 or other penetrant lube into the lock and what parts of the mechanism you can access, then giving the key a good wiggle normally works then. Give it a clean afterwards.

Seat locked in place? Try a wire coat hanger formed to a hook, prize seat up and try to grab the cable release.

I cleaned mine out the other week, it's fairly accessible from underneath. It's a simple mech where the cable pulls the sliding latch as pictured.

You should be able to release it using a pair of pliers or a screwdriver. From there it's easy to remove with the seat off. Thumbs Up

yea, that's how i imagined it worked from what I could get to, i've a dodgy neck so crawling under at an angle was quite painful.

I tried at the time wedging a screw driver in and trying to move via hammer taps but i think the sliding part is completely seized.
