I have to say I have done that and maybe worst.

I know it is wrong, but it is London Laughing

What do you think? I mean the bus coming at 01:17 here:

No, because it really pisses me off when cars force me that close to parked cars down narrow side streets.

I know that road personally and have done exactly what BVG did there, I can attest that in person it's a lot wider than it looks and as long as the other vehicles aren't hogging the white line you can easily get a bike between them, even my heffalump BMW boxer.

All the time.

Also use some punctuation that subject is the worst sentence I've read today.

Exactly. Not something that I'd do on my regular Glasgow commute, because there are so few bikes here that the traffic would be oblivious / baffled / panicked / Ronnie Pickering.

There's generally not much reason to where I live so not normally. I have occasionally when a queue has been really big but I'd be more cautious that than. I tend to avoid nearside filtering though. Especially past buses - you never know when someone might jump off - even if they're not supposed to let folk out away from stops it does happen. It doesn't leave much room to escape either.

Yes, Infact a couple of a years back this would be considered slow/normal progress.

Then all the hipsters and safety nazis got bikes and the collective tutting began...

Disagree. Drive in a decent sized city in Italy and you have scooters bikes diving into gaps all over the place, they make London couriers look like DSA riders.
And yet no one goes postal, they all just get on with it. Back here in the UK, someone "jumps the queue" by filtering and Mr Audi is a volcano of seething resentment.

Unless you're saying that the hipsters and safety Nazis = c**ts, then agree.

I'm not really concerned what drivers think to be honest M.C. Murderous cunt's are gonna be murderous cunts no matter how much Christian motoring we all do.

Also I don't feel it's my responsibility to be an ambassador to improving the ingrained perception of bikers. If they wanna judge us on stereotypes (correct, incorrect, reinforced or not) then they are going to judge.

Having been around the world and seen the way motorcycles are treated in each culture the only thing that makes it more likely for car drivers to treat us with more respect or at least look before pulling out is if there is a strong culture of people riding bikes. For instance in Colombia they are still a viable, cheap method of transport, as such your sister, your mother, your brother all ride bikes to get to work so you look twice. Having numbers on our side is ultimately what will change perception as the more non-biking members of society have bikers in their family or at work they see we are people too. Riding like a grandad in a high-viz vest won't change that IMHO. But you keep fighting the good fight my friend. Goodluck to you.

Absolutely agree with this, I have ridden bikes over europe, from here to Mongolia, All over Latin America and the USA. Us Brits have this like you say volcano of seething resentment that does not exist anywhere else to this level. Thinking that riding in a certain way will make any difference to these people this is myopic.

Also when did all couriers become so slow. Used to be when i started biking 12 odd years back if a courier came up behind you you got the fuck out the way. Now all they do is hold me up on my C90... I guess it's not worth riding hard for the pay these days... Sickpup?

Of course I do. If you're not doing that, why bother commuting on a bike?

You get that in London, it's why scooter riders have such a high mortality rate. It's not the filtering that's the problem, it's the filtering that causes oncoming traffic to take avoiding action. Do that on your test and you fail, do that to the wrong person and you're dead.

That's what I find so amusing, when I pull up to the same set of lights a few seconds after someone who's riding like a 'hero', and they get increasingly frustrated that they can't shake me. Yet they're going for all the risky gaps so should be making better progress right?

If you cause another motorist to take avoiding action you fail, simple.

I was waiting for the questionable part in the video Thinking

All looks like very standard filtering to me.

Not to that extent but I'll filter on a 2-lane road to make progress past a queue. Many an oncoming driver flashes their lights to say "Although there is plenty of room for us both to pass comfortably, I don't like that you're doing that."

I don't like your Citroen Cactus but you don't see me flashing at you.

I agree with that assuming I understand correctly what you mean. There's a road on my commute where because it's so early cars are allowed in the bus lane, so they fill up both lanes and you have to filter on the outside. Cars coming the other way choose not to use the bus lane even though they can and I'm fairly certain you're meant to.

Nothing wrong with that at all. Dashed lines only indicates where the middle of the road is. Not as if they're solid and not allowed to cross them...

Add Enfield for extra lolpoints. Be sure to give them a cheery wave when you catch them. Whistle
