Good luck with the insurance claim on that one. |
Pro tip. Don't hit another bike doing the same thing head on.

I can only guess your definition of riding like a "hero" (I like the term combat filtering) is very different to mine.
If you are riding to DSA standards and you come up to the lights only a few seconds after the aforementioned "hero" he is not the hero that London needs, or wants... just another slow wobbler getting in everyone elses way.
I suspect this is a case of: anyone faster than me is a lunatic (you) and anyone slower than me is annoying (me). As our respective levels of acceptable risk are obviously poles apart you look at the BVG video and your sphincter tightens whereas I just see another boring moto v logger video...
We all pay our money and take our chances I guess. ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

I always filter. That looks like pretty standard filtering to me. You get the occasional lights flash or hand gestures, but the majority are fine. XSR has stupid wide handlebars that mean I have to be a little more careful than when on sports bikes. ____________________ My Flickr |

but the riding?
meh |
^^Exactly this^^
I only got three minutes in before I had to turn that waffle* off.
So when I went back and watched the same three minutes (including the bus at 01.17, regarding which, wtf: there's nothing weird or wrong about that) ... its all pretty ordinary riding, from what I can see, normal comparative easy outer-London conditions.
Bit of a dickwad to be undercutting the 265 bus at 02.16 though, which as we all know, is for pussies. The outside was clear, he could easily have got down there in time before the lights changed.
Got bored after 3 mins, though, and jumped to 9.30 to see if it got more interesting closer into town, as he came in via the A4.
So really, Baron von Video dude ... going up the inside of that C1 bus outside the Brompton Oratory? Amateurish shit riding if I ever saw it. Other than that, fairly normal competent riding along Brompton Rd/Knightsbridge/Piccadilly under surprisingly calm conditions (for that time of day).
*Does he always waffle on like that?
So , in answer to OP question, I've not been riding much lately, due to having a car-based job and not needing the bike to commute. But when I was riding from East to West London on a daily basis, I rode about the same kind of style in the same conditions, in fact probably rode like much more of a gung-ho space-wanker than that (yeah, "rev-theatre" I like that expression) - but not for machismo, just to get-through-traffic really). ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

In London it's more about luck, if you have a tw@ cam' watch back your journey and add up all the time you're stationary at traffic lights... that's what makes the difference. |
I don't like to self-incriminate, also I ride like more of a dick with a Cam on.
I suspect you are right in regards to the luck of certain traffic lights that are 2 minutes or so.
Thing is I actually enjoy filtering as a sub-discipline within motorcycling, so the whole journey time argument is kind of irrelevant to me. It's something I like to do and try and improve on all the time. ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |
