Assuming you are claiming against your own policy for your bike and no other parties involved then they value bike, you agree/haggle value and they pay it minus your policy excess.

You then get dry humped at renewal and subsequent years as you have a fault claim and less/no NCD.

What happens is they assess the damage, assess the value and if one = more than a certain percentage of the other the bike will be written off.

They will then make you an offer of what they believe the vehicle to be worth prior to the damage. If you accept they will deduct your excess and pay you the balance.

You then have the choice to spend it on another bike, and pay the ridiculous insurance premium you're likely to attract.

Why is your broker not helping you through this process?

Thanks, they've taken my bike off to a body shop, I was just wondering what will happen. Am I entitled to take my bike back and some money??

That depends if they're willing to release the salvage to you which is not always guaranteed.

And informative on your load / mum's face, she's been dead for 15 years but you know, if that's your bag then do crack on.

So someone gives you a helpful post (in fact two people) and then you're a dick about it? I'm surprised you haven't been flamed off of the forum to be honest.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

If OP can spell, i'd take mechanics as a branch of applied mathematics, specificly that covering equations of motion and properties of materials. Possibly so far abstracted as to be almost arcane. Run.

As per above. Depends on the damage and whether you will get the salvage back.

As an aside, I went through all this and my bike was Cat C'd - uneconomical to repair. Got an entire replacement body panel from Thailand - genuine parts for a shade short of £200. The insurers will price it all up as per going to the main dealer and getting raped there for parts and labour. If it is just panels then you can fix her up and be back on the road in no time. If it is structural then maybe not.

Assuming he was born in 1987, the saddest part is that someone roughly the age of 30 has felt compelled to respond in such an uninsulting (is that a word?) way, I'd at least hope they come up with something more creative...

I'm guessing the OP is responding to Minty's sig in post #2, thinking it was directed at him?

I assumed someone posted an insult and very quickly deleted it?

as the option to delete a message is there if you edit, for a time at least.

Presuming OP hasn't flounced, this could be one to keep an eye on for when boredom sets in. Laughing

Perhaps OP was confusing a forum sig with a personal insult?
