KOSO DB-01R electronic speedo / dash

The speedo on this can either run off magnets on the disk or a sensor on the end of the cable.
Instruction tell you how the enter the wheel size and amount of magnets used.

But what if its running of the speedo cable sensor as mine is, instructions keep on about entering how many magnets, i dont have any, what do i enter when it ask for the amount, 0 dosnt seem to work.
Rev counter, fuel gauge and warning lights work fine, just the speedo magnet thing.

Anyone got any ideas ?????????

It wants to know how many pulses per rev of the wheel
A wheel of say 60cm diameter using 2 magnets will give 2 pulses every 1.8 Meters (roughly)
OK 1.88495559
You need to find out how many pulses your cable driven sensor gives
per revolution and input that along with wheel diameter

That makes some sence.
This come already on a bike i got, i have some of the instructions, someone has written this on the instructions.
"Rotation 2.1 = 12.6 Points"

One rotation of the wheel is 2140mm. That is the figure to enter. Divide that by the 2.1 and you get 1,019.0 so i figure that is 1 pulse or point.
Cant see where the 12.6 comes from and i think you can only enter whole numbers.
Best email KOSO for the correct pulse per rev figure.
Cheers

I assume you're wired into the bikes stock speed sensor, rather than one mounted by the brake disk?

From what you've written it sounds like someone measured the circumference of the wheel (2.1) and counted/calculated the number of pulses per revolution of that wheel (12.6). These are both of the numbers you will need for the Koso.

You can only enter whole numbers so you would normally multiply/divide the number of pulses and then multiply/divide the circumference by the same amount. That would give you 63 and 10700. This is higher than you can enter unfortunately, so you could try some trial and error - enter say 25 pulses and 4280 (or 13 and 2208, you get the idea), then tweak the circumference until you get the right speed reading.

The digital speed sensor is a Koso optional extra you can buy.
The speedo cable from the front wheel screws straight into the sensor, but there is no info to find out how many pulses per revolution of the wheel which is 2140mm per revolution.

Just got an email back from Koso that says enter 714 for the wheel and 6 for the magnets, i assume that means 6 pulses but how they got the 714 is a mystery to me.

I will try it and let you guys know.

Cheers

The answer is 714 for the revolution and 6 where it ask for how many magnets.
Its a standard setting for all the digital sensors running off of original speedo cables.

Thanks for the help guys.
