Could have sworn that a few years ago I saw a race involving an S1000RR and a single seater sports car (probably Ariel Atom 500 or somethin). Anyway the car set a time on the Top Gear test track of 1:15ish, about the same time as a Veyron SS. The bike was not timed but was assumed to be about 1 second slower.

It might have been a completely different set of machinery at work, coz no amount of googling brings up relevant results. All I remember is a good car vs bike race on TG. I love such comparisons, takes my mind off health and safety, which makes my impotent.

Car = relatively safe, less skill involved
Motorcycle = bravery often required

I don't think it is... I can't bloody stand Stoner.

I think the segment in question might have been on one of Top Gear's 'Special' DVDs or something.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

A mention of the top gear race.

Seems like it was topgear 23rd Jan 2011, maybe series 16 episode 1.
