Burnt mouth syndrome

I had never heard of it but it describes pretty much what I have right now.

For the last 10 days I have had a sore throat, as of last Wednesday though my tongue has felt like I have slapped it down in a hot frying pan. It hurts when I eat drink or swallow (ooo err). That sensation when you bite in to a burning hot cherry tomato, yep its like that but has been going on for days.

I tried some cough/sore throat medicine last night and it burned like acid

I'm booked in to the doctors to see if its just a viral thing or something else but has anyone had anything similar and or recommendations on remedies .

Go and see a pharmacist. Unlike a GP you won't have to make an appointment 6 months in advance or sit around all day, and they may actually listen to what you're saying.

I have been to the doctors and have no confirmation it isn't aids


Dr. went through a whole list of things it isn't, originally she thought it looked like really bad Tonsillitis but I have no fever so apparently not that. Its not Geographic tongue or oral thrush as my tongue looks normal.

She seemed confused so swabbed me and gave be antibiotics and some nystan mouth drops and booked me in for a weeks time.

It got to the point where I am having to take pain killers to eat :/
