So it's my first time needing to buy tyres for a motorbike. I only need a rear at the moment, so have people got any recommendations?

I'm looking around the sub <£90 mark. The bike came with Dunlop Sportmax Road Smart tyres in size 160/60ZR 17 and I got on with them alright.

Not doing trackdays or any of that jazz on the bike, so I just need a decent all-rounder for British roads.

Your suggestions are most welcome! Very Happy

Little pricier than your budget the PR3s and PR4s work well on the ER6. Solid in all weathers.

Sod putting a budget on rubber.

I blew £250 approx on front and rear PR3's getting rid of my well worn, on the front at least, Dunlop Sportmax Qualifiers and while I'm still to do much bad weather riding with them, as it's relatively nice most of the time now, the two days it was: snow, hail, rain and 5 degree's I rode home, on both days, like the road was dry.

I think for me the PR3's perform as well as I'll ever be able to need them in the dry and really show their value in the wet.

I got away with more fun than I should of had in that bad weather. I wouldn't hesitate getting the bike out again if it shat it down.

After making tbe switch to Michelins (Pilot Sport 4s) for my car this year, and being totally blown away, it made sense to turn my attention to their Pilot Road motorcycle range and I'm impressed by their write ups and reviews.

I've ordered a PR3 rear tyre from Blackcircles that'll be fitted while I'm at work on Friday. Looking forward to trying it out Very Happy

Thanks all for your thoughts and for steering me towards the Michelins Smile Thumbs Up I had been looking at comparable Metzelers, Pirellis (nearly the same thing, I know) and Dunlops.

A friend has PR3s on not only his '07 Blade but also his SP2 and has never had a problem with general hooning and sport touring.Which prompted me to fit them to the FZR-R.They replaced the Pirellis that I had previously, but because many of those tyres are now made in chinkyland I will not spend good money on them.

From oponeo the PR3s were £70 for the front (120/70x17) and the rear was £92 (180/55x17).

Straightaway they made an instant difference to the way the bike handles.Very pleased and happy to recommend them Thumbs Up Wink
