Anyone know who does cheap kids bike clothes?
Need some trousers (thinking textiles as pillion) for the lad. However, as he's only 11 I'm not wanting to pay a fortune as he'll probably outgrown them by the time next summer comes along. He's already needed a new helmet and only rides pillion occasionally so I'm reluctant to throw too much money at the problem (I'd never get it ack by selling the gear on) but still want the safety and comfort angles covered.

Am I alone in the dilema? Has anyone any experiences and solutions to share?

Thanks Thumbs Up

Hi,

Try https://www.babybiker.co.uk/ they have a part exchange service to change them as they grow, and sell second-hand stuff that has been outgrown.

Regards

Thanks for the link. Had a quick look but for an 11 year old he's already in trousers with 27 to 29 inch inside leg and about a 32" waist. He regualarly gets bought mens medium sizes - and he's still got lots of time to grow Shocked.

I'll try trawling eBay but from experience the sizes are a lottery. In the past I've tried a Hein Gericke jacket that was size XL and fitted fine. Yet in another store an import, made in china type one in XXXL was too tight (go figure). Another alternative would be at something like the NEC in November but then it's another gamble if he grows out of the gear.

Someone did suggest clipping something like the Hein Gericke Hiprotec flexible armour into a pair of leggings and letting him wear jeans on top of that. Do you think that'd work and sounds sensible?

Maybe I'm been too cautious, having seen what some of the child pillions turn up to Squires in Rolling Eyes

A similar company doing clothes up to age 14

https://www.bikerkids.co.uk/homepage.htm

But if your after small adult then I suppose you will have to buy new and sell on ebay when he outgrows it.

How much you think he needs is is up to you, I often ride in just jeans and the rest of the time with textiles but some on here would have a fit.
How about the draggin jeans - he could at least were them when not on the bike?

Thanks again for that link.
Had a look and I think I'll try and get the JTS camo (or is that cammo Confused) pattern ones with the protection. They come in adult sizes as well so should be able to get some to fit. At least then he's got something different.

Only problem I'm having so far is that JTS stockists don't appear to stock all of the JTS range Rolling Eyes Going to have a look around anyhow and 'phone a few places to check at the weekend. It'll be an excuse to get on the bike Thumbs Up (why don't bike shops open on a Sunday Sad ).

i think ebay second hand stuff wd be good as u can probably then sell it on with ebay when he has grown out of it for about the same price.

Map, buy the best you can afford mate.

If he grows out of it in 6 months, so what, just sell it on to someone else in need. I know how you feel not wanting to spend £££ on gear which will hardly be used - but thats not the point is it?

You never know when it's going to happen, at some point, you're likely to be involved in an accident (hopefully not though Smile )and you're goning to be relying on your gear to keep you in one peice.

How would you feel sat in intensive care watching over him thinking, if i'd only spent that little bit more?

Its easy to forget just how dangerous what we do is. Really think about how much your son's saftey means to you.

You can often get good quaity hardly used seconds on ebay, i'd start by looking there, than you've also got the NEC show soon as well.

Happy hunting bud! Smile

RIck.

Hve you tried Infinity, as you're in York aren't you? They often have a lot of textile stuff in cheap, and I think they have some sort of discount evening coming up soon. Maybe even try looking at the women's range to see what the sizing is like there, but just don't tell your lad that he is wearing women's clothing!

Agreed.

It's rather annoying to read an entire page before realising that what you've just read is 10+ years old. Mad

This, I also agree with. Thumbs Up

Yeah sure, why not. Mr. Green

24th January to remind people of our absent founders birthday.
2nd February to celebrate the day BCF was started.
30th November to commemorate the rainpal launch party that never happened.
And the last one is available to the highest bidder.
