Hi, I am turning 19 next month and I wanted to know whether I could ride a 600 sports bike.

Be careful what you believe online. Some spergs still insist that a couple of years of GSX-R600 are restrictable for A2. They're not, the 69-ish KW figure oft quoted for them is actual measured rear wheel horsepower, which sadly doesn't matter.

All GSX-R600s, all R6s, all CBR600s, all Daytonas are over 70kW and not suitable.

If you want sporty looking, your options are pretty much:

GSX600F
GSX650F/FA
SV650S (with lower fairings)
FZS600 (with lower fairings)
ER6F
CBR500R
CBR650R

The old 400cc sportsbikes, but they're getting very long in the tooth.

Restricting the top end of a revvy IL4 seems pointless. The IL4s I've ridden only got fun at the point where they were howling and already doing Tut Tut speeds.

SV650S or ER6F are probably your best bets if you're intending to restrict it down to 35kW.

If you're going to "restrict" it and ride at full power, FZS600.

You can't ride anything without a licence.
Are you doing yours?

I had a restricted at 17 after passing my test (hence the forum name!) but that was 13 years ago so the rules probably changed given what Rogerborg has said?

Was restricted to 33BHP ?

Obviously it was like cutting the legs of an athlete but I had never had bigger then 125 before so I didnt know the difference!

After 2 years took restriction off and THEN I knew the difference and was like getting a new bike!

It was only 2013 Smile I felt minor butthurt having missed out, but with the whole insurers not recognising it as a full license thing it's probably for the best (that's what I keep telling myself anyway).
