Define rich. Most wage earners are on less than national average wage.

Really? And that makes sense when unemployment is at a low and so many peoples jobs are so badly paid they don't even pay tax but still have to hit the daily grind.

It's because the Conservative party has no real core values. Really they don't. Many of the values people ascribe to them are merely temporary in nature and were enacted at the time in order to gain votes.

They've done the following things that are contradictory.

They've privatised they've nationalised.

They've increased taxes, they've cut taxes.

They've changed who gets taxed.

They've increased benefits and decreased them.

They've been pro-war and anti war.

They've been white supremacist.

Yet all inclusive too.
https://flashbak.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Screen-shot-2015-04-01-at-09.42.21.png

This means they are free and don't have legacies to keep to and therefore they are completely free to morph into what will get them votes rather than have established principles. This was attempted by Labour in the 90s and early 00s. All it did was alienate their core support in attempting to emulate the conservative party.

This is good for them as they get to be the top of the pile at ALL costs... Better to reign in Hell, than serve in Heaven.... mentality.

This unfortunately means they're essentially polite socio-paths who don't actually care what the pile is made of, the just want to up sat on top of it.

The getting into power at ALL costs unfortunately is very short term and therefore very bad for society in the long term (society grows great when people plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.)

Proper rich are a tiny weeny minority. Not even enough to swing the vote in a small cooncil election. So that argument is a loser.

I've seen this wierd "Corbyn looks woosey so not voting for him" thing going round on the regular medias vox-pops. But voting for some old battle-axe is preferable? That's one of the arguments I find truly nuts. If Oberfuhrermaybat was under the same kind of pressure Corbyn has been under she would collapse in a moment. Plus she's pro-EU contrary Corbyn is a long time Eurosceptic and will have spent more time thinking about a Britain out of the EU. But nahhh lets have some narky old bitch go blundering into meetings with Brussels.

So you need to be super rich to vote Tory? It was a comment on how people switch, my dad for example would never have voted Tory before, but like a lot of people he's (old and) comfortable now so his empathy for the poor has waned.

Firstly, just to make absolutely clear, I didn't say I personally was voting tory this time around nor did I say whether I did the last time around either, but moving that aside.

Frankly, yes, it does make sense. When Labour got in last we had 15 odd years of softening up the underclass by tickling their tummies and it's caused me to see a shift of nearly 2 generation's worth of work ethic. A vote for Labour or Lib Dem would see the tax thresholds that I sit well above move out considerable, reducing my net income to feed yet more layabouts who are then given naff all incentive to work, yet again.

Arrow Taxes robbed from you > benefits scrounged = vote Tory.
Arrow Taxes robbed from you > benefits scrounged + you like democracy or hate darkies = vote UKIP.
Arrow Benefits scrounged > taxes robbed from you = vote Labour.
Arrow Benefits scrounged > taxes robbed from you + you hate the English = vote SNP / Plaid Cymru.
Arrow Living off the Bank of Dadsy / Mumsy / hubby / wifey[*] = vote LibDem / Green / Yogic Bouncing Party.

I hope that clears it up

[*] lol jk

For the same reason anyone votes in a democracy, because they believe their voice is counted towards putting someone into a job that will ultimately lead to an improvement in the voters own life.

Scouser running Manc-chester? A scouser who milked Hillsborough for his own ends? One whose only interest is filling his own pockets?

You used to be able to judge an area on what political party your mp/councillor belonged to.

Council estates and the work shy tended to vote Labour.

People who worked for anyone other than the civil service voted Tory.

Arty Farty Hebden Bridge types voted liberal.

But after yesterday's local results God knows

Exactly the same with the EU Referendum.
"I wont vote to leave, all my best friends are from the EU"
*Votes Leave*
Neutral

People lie
or it's an elaborate voting scam.
