I thought it was the nice young lady I see jogging up the canal towpath when I'm on my lunchtime walk. She isn't Chinese though.

Why is it embarrassing? I have one. I wear it to my work where I swing hammers, haul on spanners, weld bits of metal to other bits of metal and at the end of the day I clean the grease and dirt off it.
But, I hear they're for girls.

It's just a posh step counter really. Wife had (a genuine) one until strap broke, doesn't bother now as she has a step
counter on her phone. Im not sure they count how much bollocks you post so no good for OP really.

Like anything, I'm sure there's people who buy them just for bragging rights. Nike must spend millions on developing their Air footwear for sporting performance, but I've only ever seen them worn by chavs and the type of girls who wear leggings as trousers.

If used right, they're good for purpose. I keep hearing that weight loss is easy because it's just a matter of putting in less calories than you're putting out, but you don't know what's going out unless you have a way of measuring it and that's what a Fitbit does. I've lost nearly 3 stone since I got mine.

E-cigs are the same (I'm not saying vape, I can't believe they called it that when they could have called it steaming), I used it how it was meant to be used and I've quit smoking completely now. I've seen school kids with them though and when I had one people kept asking me what coil, what liquid and all that.

Thread is fully derailed, I have no idea about the knockoffs. Wouldn't buy one myself, I personally didn't see the point in a fitness tracker that didn't have a heart rate monitor and half the functionality comes from the Fitbit app which syncs the data gathered to your phone.

The reason I ask is my girlfriend bought one and I was shocked at the price but noticed on fleabay/Amaloon there are plenty of clones much cheaper. I'm too tight to spend proper money on a right one. The girlfriends one syncs with a free fitness app on her android phone as well as the Fitbit app as well.

I wouldn't get a cheap knockoff, then again I wouldn't get a Fitbit!

I have a Garmin Vivosmart. Basically the same as a fitbit, except it displays phone notifications better and is completely waterproof.

Unlikely, just the sort of IQ someone from Equatorial Guinea would be thoroughly ashamed of.

But after you have had 6 replaced in 12 months for falling to bits and the company do not give a toss. Even to the point of denying that there are issues. As well as threatening to block anyone on their forums who dares to step out of line and question their ability to fix a simple GPS issue (over 9 months).
It just makes you wonder how much they actually pay the Chinese to make the devices. Yet sell for £100+

Would never touch a FitBit again. Garmin all the way Thumbs Up

And the biggest gripe "Reach out to us with your problem" WTF.....

They don't have GPS, as far as I know. They use your phone for it.
