Thought some people might be interested in the 216 piece toolkit, I use it on the bike and whilst the quality doesn't feel that amazing in your hand, it has held up well and been really handy (there's pretty much everything you need).

Often see the halfords kits being posted which are more expensive. They also have some other stuff: https://www.lidl.co.uk/en/Non-Food-Offers.htm?id=191&week=1

i have one of the halfrauds £100 sets that they say will retail for a million if it wasnt for the sale.
its seen a lot of action (mostly on cars)and ive had no failures.
however at that price i think if i were looking for a socket set with some spaners,i would give it a go.

Got my Halfords Pro 200 piece for trade price cause couple mates work at Halfords, but they still weren't as cheap as that. I would probably have gone for these if I knew they existed :')

Three sizes of socket seems like a surfeit of riches, but there's a fair amount of stuff in there, including deep sockets and some fancy-pants bits.

I've picked up a few Powerfix odds and sods, including a 3/8" socket set that's been decent enough. Probably as good a starter set as anything else for the price.

I've had one of these for a few years now and can recommend it. Thumbs Up

I've found it to be very good, the sockets are all 6 point, the ratchets are solidly made and the spanners are surprisingly good quality. It's seen a reasonable amount of use maintaining our bikes. For the price it's very good.

Also got a set similar to this from Lidl/Aldi. Smaller set, just big and small rachets... But jesus its seen some action Laughing Bashing in bearings mostly, getting off a 120N/m sprocket front nut earlier...

Great quality for the price, nothing broken yet and the smaller socket sizes are used daily for getting 10mm nuts and the like off Very Happy

I have a similar set from LIDL that I got 10 years ago. It has been used for all sorts of jobs, and no bit or ratchet has broken yet.

It's done engine changes, clutch change on a transit, valve clearances, every maintenance job ever needed.

it's exactly the same as this set here, but different branding:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/94PC-1-2-1-4-Socket-Set-Ratchet-Driver-Kit-Screwdriver-Bit-Tool-Torx-With-Case-/361454248094?hash=item54285a209e:g:5lQAAOSwZ1lWeYcj

What seemed like a good beginner set, has ended up taking massive abuse, and just keeps plodding on.

I suspect the set shown above will be similar. Only thing I don't like about it is the higher price, for what might be not-so-good spanners. Or perhaps needing spanners of odd sizes, and having random unmatching spanners outside the box.

Hi Rabbit,

Which socket did you lose, and from what set? I admit the 10mm socket got lost recently when I did the transit clutch, but I ended up ordering a replacement from ebay. The silverline 1/2" one fits find in the case.

One of the short 3/4 drive ones (I think... I always get mixed up with the sizes).

My socket is so old it has both imperial and metric sockets; all still works fine (though the imperial sockets live at the back of a drawer somewhere); the only problem - which admittedly drives me nuts - is that the insert/moulding which held everything in place was quite flimsy (not like modern versions) and disintegrated quickly. Am almost tempted to buy a new set for that reason alone!

Similar thing with a huge drill bit set I have, the contents are mostly fine, but the crappy plastic catches fatigued and failed ages ago so the whole thing is held together with a strap (or ends up in a heap on the floor when I forget Confused

Ah, I think you mean the smaller ones (1/4" drive). I can't say for sure which ones on ebay will fit in the kit then.
