Don't think this has been posted before but given the near universal loathing of all bike alarms that should p'raps come as no surprise.
Turns out Datatool recalled their S4 Red and Triumph alarms back in January this year. Units manufactured from the end of 2013 to the start of 2016 are affected:

The reason I know this now is of course because my bike is, once again, despite a new S4 red alarm being fitted last year under warranty, suffering from unsolicited, unwarranted and just fecking unconvenient immobilisation.
To be fair I should have learned my lesson after the last time it left me stranded 200 miles from home and ripped the bastard out.
Now waiting for Triumph dealer to collect my exceptionally large paperweight and rectify. Seems Scorpion Automotive will pick up the cost. They sodding better. ____________________ Story so far: RV125 VanVan > SV650 > Indian Scout > Triumph Thruxton, SV650 (again) & CG125

Wow such surprise. My 2006 triumph had the same fate. Ripped that thing out and left it out.
Dealer response was as good as lolz. |
