I'd like to point out I have no idea what I'm doing.
I asked an engineer what do I need to hook up a charger to my motorcycle battery and he said - A fuse and 5v Voltage Regulator.
I have this lovely mount that "Fits for 9-30V motorcycle" and "is equip with 5V 2.1A USB charging port".
1) To me this implies it's already reducing input voltage to 5v and should be safe for my phone/GPS? Or do I still need a 5v Voltage Regulator (which I already purchased)
2) I got a bundle of mini in-line fuses, closest to 12 being 10 and 15. Will 15v fuse do the job fine?
3) Is there a way I can hook up the charger to my battery and have it draw power only when the engine is on?
Thanks |
