Having looked at a few videos on the internet, I'm not at all confident in my ability to sort out the scratches on my fairing by myself.

So, what sort of company do I need to engage to restore a fairing (no cracks, just scratches) to make it look good (at least without too close inspection) again?

Can I just phone any old body shop, and will I need to take the fairing off myself before anybody else can work on it or do I turn up on the bike and let them do the rest?

Evidently somewhat clueless about this entire area, so any help appreciated.

I'm based in South Wales if that helps..

You could try your local 'pro-finish' or 'chips away' franchise although they might not have bike paint codes.

also interested . Sidestand gave way on some loose gravel near Hawes (stopping for a damn picture costing me a fortune) and the bike went slowly down onto its side, scratching the fairing and the decals, and bending the clutch lever.

how does repair work on decalled/stickered areas and is it possible? I'm thinking not but maybe there's some amazing process where they can save it, as the decals are huge and cover the whole of the bike pretty much (2016 CBR in tricolor)

No idea how much it would cost and I was always sceptical (paint fades over the years at different rates so paint codes aren't always that close a match) however when I was swiped on a roundabout I got a whole front quarter panel + 1/4'th of the front bumper re sprayed by a local fella, the paint was matched so well you cannot see where the origination paint ends and the respray starts. All in that was £250 with the new panel (same as excess insurance Rolling Eyes).

If it's a valuable bike it may well be worth handing it over to get the work done as I got some paint that allegedly matches my 99 1's colour code and separate clear coat but having done an 'out of the way' scratch, it's clear that the colour itself it will stand out in obvious places... Being able to fine tune the colour will make all the difference I suspect...

Any bodyshop should be able to do fairings.

If there's any Decals on the fairing bear it in mind you might have to have them removed and replace them.

Anybody should be able to mix bike codes with any modern basecoat system, if they can't any decent painter should be able to colour match by eye, or use a spectro.

If you were closer to Bolton I'd do it for you.

Yeah but your bike looks like a fishing boat so it's safe to say pride in ownership isn't a concept you are familiar with....
