Topped out the 1250 today on an empty M6.

I think I want something faster.

I'm thinking Z1000 SX - I like the look and the fact that its a little bit more tourer than the naked model...

Is there an obvious bike that I'm missing to go look at?

- Sports tourer
- 120+bhp
- £5k-£6k

Thumbs Up

You topped out a 1250...? Hasn't that got a top speed of 120mph+? and you want to go FASTER on a motorway?

Obviously we are talking theoretical speeds as no one breaks the speed limit..... Thumbs Up

But theoretically it would have displayed 149 on the speedo - so around 137.

That's not a commuting target I aim for! Smile Its just nice to test how fast it can go and how fast it gets there at least once.

Just to caveat it... There was a rolling road block earlier on the road, so I had it completely to myself for a couple of miles.
Thumbs Up

FZS1000 - Bit too naked...
FZ1 - Contender. Ill take a better look at it online
Z1000SX
Blackbird - I do like it. A bit heavier than I was looking though - will take a further look at it.

cheers.

ZX12R was just a little older than I was looking at - wanted something a bit closed to 2012/2014.

And I had thoguht the ZZr1400 would be out of my price range, but actually its not that bad...

Aren't the service intervals for those something like "every 30ft" ...

My advice is keep a naked bike, as a faired bike is less exciting to ride than a naked at high speeds. So what you're doing is changing to a bike that will be less exciting for doing the thing you want it to do... Seems a bit crazy to me.

Nothing makes this exciting regardless. This ones for comfort. Thumbs Up

Ok, that is a given...

But why do you need the speed? Why not just get a bike that will be supremely comfortable at 80mph?

Blackbirds are usually owned by older caring owners but they are starting to show their age now. It's a big, heavy, powerful bike so consumables will be big, chunky and expensive.

Get something shaftdrive with a barn door fairing and a stereo Cool

If there was a bike that had the 0-60 / 0-100 performance of these bikes - but only got to 80mph - then that makes sense... But something with a top speed of 80mph would amble up to it surely?

I'll second that. The sense of immense speed is enough for me. Wind blast at 120 plus on the Spacker certainly
makes you feel like you're going much, much faster.
