Apologies if I've posted in the wrong section.

I'm looking for a helmet to go with a set of black and red leathers I've just purchased.

There doesn't seem to be anything on eBay or Amazon that I like the look of besides the Shox Sniper Skar in Red and Black, which I'm put off as a lot of people say that there is a lot of wind noise above 60mph which could potentially interfere with my bluetooth intercoms.

Are there any other sites you recommend? Got about £100 to play with.

Thanks!

I, as pretty much everyone else, would recommend trying on helmets before buying.

That's not to stop you still buying online if you find it cheaper, but I'd suggest trying some on first for fit/sizing

if your determined to buy online.. sportsbikeshop.

very easy and free post returns policy, good prices.

I would however recommend finding a shop and trying a few lids on and noting down the size that fits well. then if you want to buy online to save a few bob you know which you need to get Thumbs Up

Always good to try on multiple sizes and get the best fit.

Disagree. If you do stuff like this don't go bawwwing when there are no shops left for you to visit because they've all gone out of business.

If you're buying a top price lid, you'll find that prices are pretty much the same on or offline. I'd call that price fixing, but I have no proof. (it's price fixing).

Their site's been down for weeks. I've just bought one from Sportsbikeshop, luckily it fit so didn't have to send it back.

Sportsbikeshop gets a thumbs up from me too, outstanding no quibble customer service but as others have said, try them in the shop first and haggle like hell, and get them to price match the cheapest online.
I managed to get over £120 off my helmet by being creative with the price match.

Helmet city.
I bought in store as the Chichester branch isn't very far, they were very pleasant and helpful.

Go to a shop and try on as many as possible.

Only by trying on lots will you know which fits you the best. Thumbs Up

Another vote for sportsbikeshop. When I got my first helmet from them I sent it back 3 times until I got one that fitted nicely, no issues. I'll probably do it again when this one needs replacing.

i totally agree with your disagreement. I try, whenever i can to buy from the local shop rather than online. Sometimes it cant be helped though.
Take discs for the gpz900. Local shop want 130 or so per disc. Wemoto want 90 or so and considering i need two of them thats almost an £80 saving, which would pay for pads and fluid and a service

I've used Sportsbikeshop, infinity motorcycles and firecrestmoto for a number of purchases and had no problems with any of them. In shop they're very helpful too. Bear in mind that JSaccessories don't do refunds only exchanges unless there's something materially wrong with the item, otherwise they're okay too.

I've used visorshop.com with great success to replace like-for-like.

Quick delivery and products as described.

If it was a new make / model then I'd try in a shop and buy from there. Thumbs Up Infinity were good for in-store purchases IME.

Checked out sportbikeshop and inifinity and there are some really nice helmets on there! Main reason I wanted to buy online was because I thought it was a lot cheaper

I live in Sheffield and popped into SMC today, they said they'll do me the HJC IS-17 and an additional visor which is tinted for £190 which is over my budget but seems like a solid lid and a good investment, + it's cheaper than anywhere I can find online. Tried it on and was a great fit

I think it was definately worth going into a shop rather than buying online, thanks for all the replies and your advice, appreciate it!

I'd really want to try on more than three to get an accurate idea of what fits nicely.

What happens to the ones that get sent back to interweb firms? Genuine question, I don't know? Are they resold as new?

Yup. Laughing

It's the same as anything else, if you buy something and then return it unused within [however many days it is] then it just goes back on the shelf / in the warehouse.

In the case of sportsbikeshop, you can return it within 365 days for a full refund. Laughing

Sportsbikeshop have a really good returns service, this way you can try it on and not have to worry about sending it back if its wrong, i bought my most recent lid from there. Would recommend every time, plus the customer service team are quite useful as well.

There is always another way to deal with local retailers.

Go in, be decent and then when it comes to price talk to them about the online prices and ask them how near to those prices they can get. You will be surprised how many will accommodate you quite a lot if you take this approach. You probably will not get an exact price match but if its within £10/£20 on the cost of a helmet Vs online then there are many benefits to buying from the local place.. like not having to send back because they don't fit.

And there's less likelyhood that the lI'd has been sent out half a dozen times then returned....
