As the title really, I'm planning to go and see the bike at the weekend.
Looking for any advise on what to look for on these specifically .

Also the bike i know needs to a new rear tyre. So depending on the rubber fitted at the moment I'm most likely to go for a set. So what would people recommend for all year round riding with decent mileage / grip

Haven't had my K4 for long but the supercorsas it came with were unsurprisingly terrible in the wet, it felt like being on an ice rink - but they were the best tyres I've ever used in the dry. In the dry, those tyres warmed up incredibly quickly and got very sticky, corning and wheelies were effortless.

I've gone for a set of PR4s and after several rainy rides they get a Thumbs Up .

Haven't had them long so can't comment on how many miles they will do, but from the reviews I've read they're supposed to last a quite a while.

My boss (ZX9) and work mate (Pan European) both have PR4s and commute all year round, they recommend them.

Ive had PR3's on my gixer and have had two Euro holidays, a bunch of trackdays and normal riding out of them. Im up to about 11k miles so far and they still have plenty of tread left on them. Good for dry and soaking wet and have given me a lot of confidence with my riding.

When I replace them I am going for PR4's as they seem to be even better.

I have Pilot Road 3 on my K1. Put them on around November and have hammered them all winter with them inspiring nothing but confidence.

Look for the usual fucked about with issues you'd expect and condtion of consumables. Chinese fairings.... it's been down the road. Weepy fork seals.... USD's are a pain in the arse to change compared to RWU. Any performance mods, does it have a PC or the ECU been flashed to make use of them.

If it doesn't have a TRE fitted you'll want one (about £30). It removes the timing retard in the first few gears at under 50% throttle (i.e. it makes the bike how it should be).

If the seat cowl is missing I'd haggle money off based on that. Chinese one is £20, OEM new is £200.

If it has had a full system fitted that removes the exhaust valve make sure it's been done properly and not throwing an FI code.

If you can try and launch it hard on a test ride K1/K2 (and some K3/K4) suffer bad clutch grab. (I found out rather embarrasingly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vhE3X-3eUA ). The fix is cheap and easy enough if it has not been done already.

It's a good bike. I like mine alot, commutes comfortably, is ok for long distance and can be an absolute animal when you want it to.

Good tyres for all-round use, although I'm getting about 6k miles out of a rear on my Fazer 1000, which I'm not entirely pleased with, but then I was only getting 4k out of PR2s. Obvs. a heavier bike than a GSXR, so if you don't hammer it everywhere, I suspect you'd do better.

@Waffles: Jeez, 11k?! How the f...?!

Shocked

I'm at about 5k on a PR3 on my GSXR1000 and I'd be shocked if I don't get at least another 5k...... I ride like a cock everywhere.

No idea; I've never got great mileages out of any tyre on any bike, and although I do like to have some fun, I wouldn't say I'm the most looney rider around Confused

Thanks never knew about the TRE mod, I'll look into that a bit more, see how i get on with the bike first ( If i buy) and go from there, Tyres the PR4 seems to get universal approval. so I'll look into them.

Thanks to all so far, keep it coming

Don't. You live near London, once the ULEZ is in place your bike would be wirthless in the South East.
