What a cynic! I have no doubt he will feel the full force of the law and get both a sternly worded letter AND a 2 hour course on the safe handling of corrosive substances in accordance with COSHH guidelines.

As an aside, are these people getting acid thrown on them wearing half face helmets? The visor would be pretty much impervious to anything I would expect them to be able t get hold of. Better than a face full of acid in any case.

I've seen a group of two or three (two twice, three once) wandering around Islington on F800GSes (or something very close) since 2014 or so.

That or they have their visor open when they strike. I guess the first thing to do when approached is to slam your visor shut. What a time to be alive Neutral

I see huge numbers of riders in London with visors permanently open. I don't know how they do it. I always get shit in my eyes when I open my visor or flip the front of the helmet.

My Pinlock (other brands of visor inserts are available) allows me to keep my lid closed in pretty much all circumstances. The only time it ever fogs up is when it snows and that hasn't happened for years.

Maybe Pinlock should use it as a marketing tagline:

"The anti-fog Pinlock insert lenses have been providing clear fog free vision and caustic protection for motorcycle riders for over 20 years."

this goes here

https://uk.businessinsider.com/apple-london-store-ransacked-moped-gang-2017-11

Quote:
Ten thugs on five mopeds launched a mass raid on the Apple store in Regent Street early today snatching thousands of pounds worth of laptops and iPads.

The gang struck in the early hours driving a high powered scooter through the glass front doors of the store before storming inside.

Two security guards tried to intervene but they were threatened with hammers by the gang who were inside the premises for less than three minutes.

Police said they were first called at 12.42 am to reports of a robbery in Regent Street.

Witnesses said the gang posted look-outs outside as several of the group ran inside and snatched items on display stands before escaping on waiting mopeds.

wonder how those display devices are working out for them Rolling Eyes they should work at apple, as "geniuses"

They _do_ always seem to be in groups, just last week I saw three riding together along the embankment. Why split up and cover a wider area when you can hang around with your mates instead though eh?

Because of the very real threat of them getting done over by Dindu.

It's actually a good sign that they're travelling in packs. You don't need to go around mob handed if you're just intending to shake down the law abiding for Speed Tax.

Used to do it and only in summer was flies etc. really an issue. My visor still steamed up if it was cold enough and I was out for long enough (with pinlock).

So is this implied general permission to start up a vigilante group?

Our higher literacy standards should mean innocents like doctors for children ought to be pretty safe.

If so I agree, someone has to do something, the police can't do fuck all.

Clickbait.

https://www.visordown.com/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/Sian%20Berry.jpg?itok=hLnfbmuc

Problem solved: ban pillions. Clapping

"temporary bans on moped passengers in particular areas would help to identify and better target police action, as anyone defying a ban would know they might be spoken to."

Yes, they have the power to do this. Public Space Protection Order, or pick any other sweeping overbroad legislation you like.

Somebody might want to sit her down and explain that the problem isn't that the police don't know fine well that packs of pikeys riding around unplated and often unhelmeted are wrong 'uns. It's that they have a de facto no-pursuit policy.

What do, missy? What do?

Oh that's lovely isn't it.

A few weeks ago our local shopping mall was the venue for a good old gang fight, with acid being thrown around by the yoot that were in attendance. But don't worry, because plod have a solution. They've banned groups of more than XX number of yoot from the area.

Yup, sure thing the bad kids will listen to that.

Of course the alternative would have been, given the area being one of the most heavily ANPR'd and CCTV'd in the country, would have been to do some actual police work. But nobody got time for that, right?
