Bank junction traffic ban

So it's official, only buses and bicycles to be allowed at Bank junction from 7am to 7pm and an area around it will be closed to other traffic. I usually commute via Old Street a little north of that area (I can also go via Bank junction, a bit slower). I'm worried that it will cause some serious congestion as much traffic is redirected?

I genuinely believe TfL want to cause as much congestion as possible. I guess in their mind everyone will jump on an ethnic peace bicycle or an overcrowded bus.
