I just paid for an engine on eBay, through PayPal, by accident. EBay added it to my basket, so when I bought another item, it automatically checked out the engine too. My £8 air filter ended up costing £608 Laughing

Now, I agreed £50 less with the seller, cash on collection. The seller is prepared to refund the full amount and accept £50 less for cash, but if the engine turns out to not run properly, I predict a nightmare getting a refund having paid cash.

What says bcf? Better chance of protecting myself by going through the books on PayPal?

To offer you £50 off he must be wanting you to agree to cancelling the transaction on eBay as then he gets his 10% final value fee back and doesn't have to pay Paypal fees of £20.

I would.

You would cancel and pay cash, or continue through PayPal?

I wouldn't pay at all, it's an engine I don't want.

If that's what happened, then it sounds like you have a complaint against eBay.

Always scamming us by adding things to our baskets. Damn 0-click purchasing. Mad

was the filter and the engine from the same seller?

I ask because I have just bought something from ebay and I have some dining room chairs in my basket, when I checked out the other thing I only got charge for that item. But the items were from different sellers
