How long after surgery....

So, had a keyhole gall bladder removal on Thursday last week.

Just wondering if anyone else has had it done and if so how long they were off their bikes for?

four incisions made in total, biggest is at the top of my abdomen about 1.5" two about 1" on the right hand side of my abdomen and then a smaller one in my navel

Have you considered asking your doctor?

When I had major surgery on my hand after my accident, it was six months before I could even look at a bike, and then it was just around the yard and up and down the driveway at work.

I did... but could only get an answer on driving. Which leads me to ask the good people here.

How was the surgery/how was the whole op? I've had my pre op assesment and just waiting for a date to get my gallbladder removed too. From what I've heard it takes about to 2 weeks to resume normal activities. I guess see how you feel and take it easy and if it seems like your doing too much then wait some more.

Surgery went fine a brief run down if it will help.

went to the surgical admissions unit for 12
changed into a rather fetching gown and issued with surgical socks (which have to stay on for 72hrs)
visits from the surgeon and the anaesthetist
bloods taken
at 4pm i walked down with the anaesthetist, jumped on the bed, had a canular put in, last thing i remember was the mask going over my face.

Woke up in recovery about 5:30pm feeling groggy as hell was checked over, had some tea and toast, issued with dressings, painkillers etc and was home for 8pm

the conversion from keyhole to open is something like 1%
my upper abdomen incision is larger than normal as my gall bladder was very badly inflamed (fat twat i am)

I only needed pain killers for 48hrs, the anaesthesia and pain killers will bung you up good and proper

The bike won't be inherently worse unless riding position is extreme?
Any incident like trying to pick it up if dropped or stopping it falling might be risky.
I'd try to hold off for more like a month if possible, or at least be especially cautious.

Bear in mind that the logic behind this is not specifically that the seatbelt will do you more damage if you do an emergency stop; rather than the pain you're likely to experience from heavy braking will limit your ability to do a full emergency stop, thereby endangering yourself and other road users.

An emergency stop per se on a bike is not likely to cause any particular problem; nevertheless if it ends in a crash then the outcome is much likely to be more of an issue for the biker than for the driver.

My friend had theirs out and was 4-6 weeks before getting back to doing proper exercise such as running etc

Had various bits of my man-spuds surgically altered for better performance recently. Was housebound for 6 days afterwards with some pretty horrific bruising which spread right the way up my wang (yes, the whole 3 inches Surprised ).

Back on bike 14 days after operation - stitches finally fell out (well, were melted out by my appalling sweat production whilst filtering through traffic) yesterday, and I think it's week 7 post-op, or as I like to describe it 'arriana's new-birth.

I was back on the bike 6 weeks after heart surgery, but that's only because that was how long the DVLA said I wasn't allowed to drive for.
After about 3-4 weeks I was helping push a people carrier on then off a trailer.
