|
|
My pads had worn out so today I went to replace them, the brakes have always been shit on my XJ and I've had to pull hard to stop but they've always been fairly firm. I couldn't wedge the pads far apart to get the pistons all the way in so I decided I'd let fluid out and give them a bleed.
This was when I noticed

I hoped it was all just a sketchy design but upon the slightest unscrewing my thoughts were confirmed of it being an awful cross thread. Fluid poured out the sides straight away rather than out the top of the bleed nipple.
What can I do now? Try and re-cut the threads or will I just have to buy another calliper?
Perfect timing especially with the lovely weather right now |

Great Odins Raven! ...By the Beard of Zeus! etc.
How did you not notice that when you did it?
If were talking bodges, weld(JB) it shut?
More seriously, there should be enough meat for a helicoil surely?
It can't be any worse than the original aluminium thread. ____________________ The above post is most likely nonsensical.
