As the title suggests really.

I passed MOD2 today (phew) and the examiner gave me the option for him to send off my licence to be changed but I said I'd do it it as I need to update my address on my licence.

Am i able to ride straight away or do I need to wait for this to be returned?

The reason I ask is because now my MOD2 certificate has now been posted to the DVLA, I actually have no proof that I've passed MOD2 at all?

Yes, you can ride straight away.

Assuming you have tax, mot and insurance.

Yes, you are licensed. Notionally.

However, you can't produce a physical licence if stopped, which is an offence. The defence is to show your licence within a week at a nominated police station. Whether any of this obsolete tosh is enforced now that we're in The Future, I have no idea.

Since you can't produce anything, and it won't show up here yet https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence, it is vaguely possible that you could have your bike seized by an over-zealous copper.

Pragmatically, as soon as it shows online, you're good to go. The photocard is essentially just ID now.

Did you make a copy of your test certificate? DVLA love to lose post.

tl;dr version - get a Fireblade but probably save the wheelies until you're showing as licensed online.

Why didn't you take a copy, or at least a photo with your phone?

Unfortunately I didn't make a copy but I did take a photo of it with my phone.

It's already sent off so not much I can do now except cross my fingers and hope they don't lose it! Sad
