Shoulder checks life savers etc..

You may have all the authority in the world but authority doesn't stop RTAs.

Wouldn't it be great if we were all subject to the same scrutiny and all had to suffer the same consequences for our actions!

If the situation had been reversed, what would the chances be of NFA? Rolling Eyes

The difference being we don't pretend to be perfect; coppers do.

This is the same plod that'll happily crack a ton 30 to catch you up and give you a lecture on how speed kills - unless of course you've had the superman training they've had and get to ride a bike with a flashing blue light.

It would, be then most of us don't go around lecturing everyone else on how to ride safely.

Much ado about nothing IMO. Yeah the copper swerved across fast but there was still escape-room. Not terribly professional but not that much of a drama either.

I suspect that if you were to pull the same manoeuvre in front of dibble they'd stop you and give you a rather lengthy lecture, probably a breath test and find some excuse to leave you with some points on your license.

agreed...

"Terrifying moment police motorbike swerves into fast lane on M8"

really? I wasn't terrified at all, for either of them.

I would have no reason to swerve across traffic and create a rolling block, so they would find it unusual.

TBH I see that kind of maneuver performed in much heavier traffic on a weekly basis on the A2, but not by the cops and usually it's off the M25 slip road directly into the outside lane.

Pete how would you feel if the cooper's swerve caused you to crash as reaction?

Just as gutted as if some random Joe had done it, the only difference is that unless random Joe actually DID cause a crash it wouldn't be blasted all over youtube and forums. Coz it's a copper it's soap box time.

Like I said, bit unprofessional, but rash, nothing really to shout about.

I would have thought the whole group could have entered Lane 1 fairly easily and safely with blue lights alone. The sudden full stop on the motorway could have caused a wave of increasingly hard braking back along the motorway.

Not a defence, but hasn't he just come out of the slip road, given it the beans to make the gap, but just not had very good bike control ie his arms have locked out from the acceleration and he's overhshot.

Dude was out on training by looks of it. Nerves, unfamiliarity, brain fart.
Could have been bad, luckily wasn't. Yes he'll be writing tickets for lesser risky things 2 weeks from that moment.
