The problem is that they're not at all in keeping with the styling of the bike. In fact, they're very obviously a last minute bodge. If they can't fit good enough silencers under the bike, then underseat silencers would be a better fit to the styling. Or twin exhausts at either side.

But it's OK. You can buy your £13k+ 'middleweight' bike, and then you can spend another £3,600 on the full Termi race system that does fit under the bike, where the exhaust is supposed to be. Horrah

Almost looks like a really poor attempt at copying the stacked twin exhausts off something like an RGV/RS250.

Who exactly cares, and why is OP being so over sensitive about it?
If your in the market for an 899 or it's successor, then you'll still buy it with the slightly ugly new exhaust too. Ruin's is a bit of a strong word, and too PMT for my liking.

As mentioned in thread, anyone who can afford the cost of a new 959 and wants to own one, will also stand the cost of a full racing Termignoni system or similar.

The only way Euro 4 can ruin a bike is in terms or drivability. And even then if you want to pay out for a cat delete system and re-map or aux ECU fiddler, then it can probably always be sorted out at a cost.

Yes it can be sorted. But it's obviously not what Ducati wanted to do, or it wouldn't look so much of a bodge, and they wouldn't keep the under-belly exhaust in the US. So it's there to meet regulations, which just ends up costing the customer more to put 'right'.

You're also at 1299 money with the 959 + full system. And the 1299 includes a free £2600 exhaust at the moment.

Aftermarket exhausts will still be belly collectors like the original 899.

It's to pass Euro 4 test in the state that it leaves the factory, what happens afterwards Ducati care not.

Totally agree. I hate euro 4 - the cans look and sound horrible now. An after market silencer is practically mandatory now!
