Numb bum

240 wonderful miles ridden around mid-Wales today on my Pan European. Only casualty is my arse which is numb. Any suggestions for a comfort seat?

I guess riding like this would indeed help with a numb bum, but will also likely end with you being a salad.

Complain to Honda, it's a touring bike is it not, surely a comfy seat should be standard.

I know i'm getting older which doesn't help but the seat on my 350YPVS was way more comfortable than the seat on my FZ1, so much for 30 years of progress.
It's not so much a numb bum, it's the sides of the seat that cut into the top of my legs!

I thought this discomfort stuff only happens if you dont ride for a long time or ride a new bike for the first time.

First ride ever on the R6 was over 110 miles and I was stiff everywhere for two weeks.

Now I can bang out 300 miles and come home feeling only slightly fatigued.

You just need to do long rides more often & get used to it.

Cycling shorts, Decathlon does have a good range with different thickness of padding, 900 being the maximum (probably too much). They also have the under shorts quite a bit cheaper.

I regularly do Glasgow - Oban - Glasgow or Glasgow - Ft. William - Glasgow too

My arse is fine..


Get out one the hoowur more often.



Edit... I did Glasgow - Lahndahn - Glasgow on 3rd Jan this year in one go. Only thing to report was that is was facking Baltic and the heated seat blistered my arse cheek a bit.

But still not numb.

Perhaps you have sciatica.

Winging about a numb bum on a Pan?! Lol try doing many miles on an Enduro bike with a stock seat! The Pan would feel like sitting on Carol Kirkwoods bosoms after that!

Another vote for sheepskin.

Also, take the twisties, if you're moving about on the bike more, you will get less numbness. So stay off the motorway.

+1 to moving about. Rather than sitting bolt upright, lean down a bit to tuck in behind the screen for a while. Slide forward a bit. Slide back a bit. Move side to side as you take the bends. Stand on the pegs. It puts strain on different parts of your body and alleviates pressure, letting blood flow and keeping your backside alive. I can easily manage 500 mile days on the Pan without resorting to the dead sheep.
