It's also pointless because it just churns properties around in the market. It's not generating a penny of wealth, adding any productivity, or addressing the underlying demographic problem that's got them scrabbling around for the (wrong) solution.

If they'd announced Futurama style suicide booths on every street corner, that would have made sense.

May seems to have really lost the plot. She's started saying that Corbyn should be concentrating on brexit negotiations, not the election. The election she called.

So either

a) She's batshit mental
b) She doesn't think we deserve any of her time and we should just vote for her.

I also laughed my tits off when she said she'd been meeting real people, rather than those fake ones she was busing about.

So if you needed social care at the end of your life you could have £23k in the bank before the state started taking it. Now they're saying "100k woooo oh yeah but we can include your house in that".
Seriously WFT? How many houses are worth less than £77k?

OK they've U turned on it, but the fact they even said it annoyed me.

tl;dr: You pay into a system all your life, then if you're ill at the end the state takes about 90% of your assets

Which is different why exactly?

Always better to not have a pot to piss in. They can't take what you haven't got.

I'm inclined to say its a bit of both. It's like she *wants* to lose.

Never read Rob Liddle before, can't say there was much to disagree with there.

This election, man.......

She called it, she didn't have to at all. It's a vanity project gone wrong.

Sorry, just going back to the vote weighting thing for a second here: can I just note the fact all of a sudden my vote has got some actual clout to it? My mind is blown.

I used to live in the West Ham constituency, where my vote was worth 0.011 of an actual vote. Having just moved to Edgbaston, I now have a whopping 0.838 of a vote. I may have to go wild and actually make use of it, as opposed to going for a spoiled ballot or protest vote.

Christ, such responsibility.

Funny. The seventies were shit...... Because of Ted Heath (Tory, BTW). Yes, I know interest rates through the roof, pound devalued etc.
Harold Wilson refused to allow British troops to give credibility to Americas ridiculous adventurism in Vietnam. The Yanks took a bit of revenge monetarily. Worth the price in my mind, I would have been a prime contender to be drafted off to shoot johnny Gook.
It was actually one of the best times to be alive, the best music, pretty free to live your life, far better socially.
Now Thatcher.........

Crazy idea I know, but Labour have a history of living in the now with no thought about the future consequences.

"Guarantee immigrant safety before any other negotiations". Never played poker then?

"Increase Corporation Tax" - yeah, companies will flock to stay here when the tax goes up and at a time we need to encourage trade.

Seriously? Rolling Eyes

A MASSIVE 7%?

Oh well, the directors can swallow that, given they absolutely milk it anyway.

Laughing Showing your usual level of verbal reasoning, note where I said unless you were wealthy. It was not a good time to be at the bottom, that continued into the nineties under the Tories.

Quattros, Top Gun, shoulder pads and Sissy Spritz. The 80s were awesome, and everybody could get rich, if they weren't too busy not working down pit.

You really really don't need to defend the Tories mpd. They quite literally have brought this upon themselves.

And before you ask, neither.

Only if it has real meaning. If none of the above wins then all other candidates are banned from the election (or possibly for life)

All the best

However, overall from a total of 1,250 pits in 1947 to the present day, 522 mines were closed throughout the UK by Labour and 728 by the Conservatives, including several hundred small licensed mines.
